7000DLE Mk-II PTT IN issue?

Postby jf4fuf » Tue Aug 27, 2019 2:13 pm

Hello, All and ANAN's softwares divelopment teams.

I'm Yoshi JF4FUF.
I'm using ANAN-7000DLE MK2 for 1 month.

I found one malfunction in my ANAN-7000DLEMk-II.
Symptoms are as follows:

At CW Mode,
When the log software and PowerSDR are connected with virtual COM, Key and PTT will work correctly.
However, if ANAN PTT IN is closed in that state, ANAN will behave like a full break-in.
I want to use a footswitch via PTT IN, but this is not possible.

Usage environment
OS:Win10 64bit
CPU:i3-8100
MEM:8GB
SSD:250GB
PowerSDR mRX PS v3.4.9 and Orion MK2 Ver. 2.4

I don't think this can be solved with the PowerSDR settings.
Or will we have to wait for the 7000DLE Mk-II farm revision?

Does anyone have trouble with the same symptoms?

HNY to all!

I think I have the same problem. I use xvtr and EME tube amp on 144 MHz. In SSB I can use a foot switch connected to PTT IN to switch ANAN-7000, xvtr and pa to TX. PTT OUT behaves like it should do.

This does not work in CW. I have to use the space key on my keyboard instead. That is very annoying. Using Semi Break-In is not an option due to the big coax switches in use. I don't do cw by keyboard.

Exactly!
I am using a Microham MK2R+ (internal Winkey chip) to key both my 7000DLE and my K3 in SO2R. An external PTT hardware contactor did never switch any of my ANANs into (CW) transmit mode. This would be highly appreciated....
As far as I remember, this is not a new discussion.

It's not clear at this time whether this is a software or firmware issue, but it is one or the other. In fact this topic may not belong in a firmware sub-forum at all.

Here are a couple of work-arounds you might consider:

1. Use a foot switch with PC serial port PTT (Setup > CAT Control > CAT) instead of PTT into the hardware.

2. Allow the radio to run semi-QSK (or full QSK if you are using a 200D or newer with Protocol 2) but wire the foot switch to only control downstream equipment.

@W2PA: Chris, is this ringing any bells for you? Does this happen with Thetis? I can't test it properly because I only operate remote.

I guess I don't understand the problem.

First - are we talking about Thetis or PowerSDR? The original post said PowerSDR.

Also, historically, "full break-in" was used a lot to mean semi break-in with the delay set to zero. That's not QSK.

In Thetis, I have a logging program controlling PTT (if it wants) via virtual COM port (VSPE), and I also use a foot switch plugged into the 8000. Everything works as expected.

If you enable QSK, PTT will not work when you key the PTT line to the radio. This is as designed. You don't want PTT to key. If you do, turn off QSK.

Hi Chris,

I believe this is all about PowerSDR.

I also believe the problem is that folks want to key up the radio and everything else in their transmit chain, and then send code like that, and they want to do it from a foot switch, not MOX or spacebar. Unfortunately, the hardware PTT input does not seem to function in the PowerSDR configuration when CW is selected as the mode (although serial port PTT does--I've tested that).

The reason I mention Thetis is as follows: if this is not a problem in Thetis, then the easy answer for these folks might be to make the leap to Thetis and Protocol 2 firmware.

Thanks,

Scott

Hello,
i use ANAN 7000 with firmware 2.0p8 and Thetis 2.6.9b6.

In CW i need to switch PTT via external ptt from dig interface
but this doesn't work (semi break-in disabled)

I listen the cw note in the monitor but no RF signal comes out.

Idem with virtual port on DSP-CW configuratiorn RTS doesn't work,
same problem.

PTT via cat works perfectly.
