8000DLE MKII and 7000DLE MKII

Postby rbduck » Tue Dec 03, 2019 4:24 pm

I'm brand new here. I'm in he market for an Anan product. I was first drawn to the 8000DLE MKII. I than discovered there was none to be had. Than I looked at the 7000DLE MKII with the embedded PC and at this point have almost decided that having an embedded PC that has Windows 10 is not good. The one and only thing I don't like about Windows 10 is that Microsoft throws constantly throws upgrades and enhancements that have unpredictable results. I don't mind having a PC that I have to deal with, but do I want a transceiver with
Windows 10 embedded. There is always the 7000DLE MKII without the embedded PC.

My questions to you are these:

1. Is there any performance enhances to radio performance with the embedded PC or is it just a way to save desktop space not having to use an outboard PC?

2. What are the main differences between the 7000DLE MKII and the 8000DLE MKII? I've not recognized any difference in my reading. This
is just my curiosity since there no 8000's available.

I like having a transceiver with an upgrade path through constant improvements in software as opposed to being locked in and having to sell and buy another radio for minor improvements.

I appreciate your time. I'm going to purchase within the next week and much appreciate your input.

There is no radio performance advantage to having an internal PC. It is merely a different form factor that Apache apparently believed people would be interested in. Given that those models are gone from the product line, one can only guess that they were poor sellers.

As far as I know there is currently no such thing as an 8000DLE MKII. Yes, it was mentioned in another topic, but the entire idea seems to have died, or at least has mutated into one of the other potential future Apache products noted in this topic. At this time the only new hardware you can buy is the 7000DLE MKII. Note, given the choice between a used 7000 of any variant, and an 8000, I'd choose the 7000. It is smaller, lighter, has more RF routing capabilities, does not have the funny impedance matching issues on the amplifier output, does not have the unnecessary complexity of an LCD front panel, and very few people need a 200W transmitter.

Thank you for the information. There are 8000DLE's for sale on the HRO website. They are not the MKII model and don't contain the embedded CPU. And Yes, I do not need a 200 watt transceiver. I am anxious to make the purchase and start the learning curve. I'm an old guy that feels like a little kid at Christmas!

Wait I should read the topic link you posted first.... That information solidifies me on the transceiver I will buy!!

Thanks Again,

Actually, I might be wrong about the embedded PC versions being gone. I thought they were, but I do see them on Apache and HRO websites.

I hope the units without the embedded PC's are the black case models. I like the stainless steel look, but I prefer the black.
