Hello All,

Well... I'm going to hat to recant my last report... I started up Thetis the next day and was once again presented with a spectrum that would not stop bouncing from a nice quiet -150 up to -20 or -40. I don't know why this is happening. It did not appear to be band or frequency specific. Powering the Anan-100D down and back up did seem to have any impact either.

I downloaded SDRConsole V3 and could not hear much. It also seemed to just lock up after a minute or so. I could stop and then start it using the application controls to get it working again, but then it would just lock up again. In fairness this is just a quick assessment. I did not invest the time to work through all of the screens and settings, so I could have missed something important.

I reloaded Angelina 6.0 (Protocol 1) a few minutes ago and OpenHPSDR mRX popped right up stable and clean. So I guess I say with what I know until something pops up to suggest its time to take another try. If anyone has an idea what I may have missed, please let me know.

Early Angelia board only.

Protocol 1 runs fine.

No version (11.7 - 12.1) of Protocol 2 runs. I am assuming that the red FPGA LEDS should indicate activity as they did in Protocol 1 firmware. They are all off.

Thetis indicates the correct firmware ID and that it is an Angelia board but no activity at all.

BTW I use the bootloader to go back and fother between Protocol 1 & 2 with no issues.

Hi Jeff,

I agree, the boot loader has proven to be very reliable. I also have an Anan-10 running on my LAN and it does seem like the loader can get confused occasionally if it is running when I am trying to update my 100D.

I have had some luck with Protocol 2, v11.6, but it too seemed to lock up and I have reverted back to Protocol 1 v6.0 for the time being. I'm happy to try new releases of Protocol 2, as there are some things in Thetis I would like to use.

Since people seem to get hang up on PC details here goes:.

HW: i7 with 16GB MEM SSDs TWO Gb NIC's (little b for bits) one for ANAN one for Network.
Please note this PC is also having a few other SDRs attached to it, either via USB or USB to Ethernet Converters.

Radio: ANAN-100D
Radio HW Version: Only God knows.

ANAN NIC Config: That's a long story, but basically everything OFF except stuff you need for the TCP, which includes your IP address.
OS: Win 10 LTSB
ANAN Control Software: Thetis v2.6.7

ANAN Control Software setup: Again long story but main config below.
Enable Static IP Address
Network Watchdog
RX1 Sample Rate: 384000
RX2 Sample Rate: 384000
No Dither No Random (yet)
Process Priority: Normal
Audio
VAC1: Enabled
Driver: Asio
Input: VM-P ASIO
Output: VM-P ASIO (Voicemeeter Potato)
BufferSize: 128
Sample Rate: 48000
GAIN
RX:0
TX:0
Mono/Stereo: Enabled
VAC1 Monitor
To VAC Force: Enabled
From VAC Force: Enabled
Buffer Latency In: 45 Manual
Buffer Latency Out: 45 Manual
Port Audio In: 45 Manual
PortAudio Out: 45 Manual
(Phew)
DSP (only SSB)
Buffer Size
RX:64
TX:64
Filter Size
RX: 4096
TX: 4096
Filter Type
RX: Linear Phase (sounds more natural)
TX: Linear Phase
Filter Windows
RX: BH-7
TX: BH-7

So my tests of the latest P2 Firmware are as followed:

Seq # Firmware Test 1 (Diversity default) Test 2 TX TUN Test 3 TX TUN PS-A Test 4 TX TWO Tone PS RX Artefacts (strong signal) Notes
1 Angelia_P2_v12.1_pr1_5070 disabled 5x seq8, 1x seq2, 3x seq8 Seq2 & 8 erros. PS hunting for correction. Digital artefacts when having NB2, SNB, ANF less pronounced with NB2 off but still there. Starting at S7. Could not detect any at SNB. Disabling SNB, no artefacts noted with NB2 and ANF (+10) not useable.
2 Angelia_P2_v12.1_pr1_5171 not checked see audio blips, but no seq errors see audio blips and quite a few seq8 errors PS hunting unable to correct not tested
3 Angelia_P2_v12.1_pr1_5670 disabled seq8 errors Seq 2,8,&10 errors PS correcting but lots of seq errors not tested
4 Angelia_P2_v12.1_pr1_5770 not checked ok occasional seq error ok with occasional seq error Digital artefacts when having NB2, SNB, ANF less pronounced with NB2 off but still there. Starting at S7. Could not detect any at SNB. Disabling SNB, no artefacts noted with NB2 and ANF (+10) Audio gain stages all over the floor on initial (cold) boot. No RX audio artefacts initially. Radio didn’t boot initial, no network, reboot radio fixed. Audio gain settled after 5-10min of operation. Seq2, Seq8 errors. NEED re-testing
5 Angelia_P2_v12.1_pr2_5550 disabled no seq errors, no PS, Diversity disabled by default.
6 Angelia_P2_v12.1_pr2 no seq errors but PS not working not tested
7 Angelia_P2_v11.9 seq8, seq41 errors, audio stops. Seq32, 49,1 no further tests done as deemed unusable.
8 Angelia_P2_v11.6 disabled ok ok ok Digital artefacts when having NB2, SNB, ANF less pronounced with NB2 off but still there. Starting at S7. Could not detect any at SNB. Disabling SNB, no artefacts noted with NB2 and ANF (S9+10) current Firmware that is working FOR ME
9 Angelia_P2_v11.8 bricked radio
10 Angelia_P2_v12.0 no RX no further tests

I used the HPSDR Bootloader to update/downgrade the Firmware on the ANAN.

Crap copy and paste looks, well average. I'll attach a spreadsheet if I can. Couldn't find a way to attach. Here is a link to it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Anyway Angelia_P2_v11.6 works for me quite nicely, i.e. Basic functionality as in having an OPERATIONAL radio (with a few bang and whistles) is working for me.
Now setting up Networking in a Windows environment is a quite a different story and as M$ likes to PLEASE Earthlings and Marslings alike, it is catering for the masses. Which, in MY HUMBLE OPINION, is not the best solution for what we like to do with our SDR's!
There are lots of GOOD hints and tips floating about on what to do with your NIC (Network Interface Card), some are being shot at others are being hyped up. Unfortunately you have to experiment with YOUR configuration, pick ONE at a time and see if it make thinks worth.

I've been running P1 over a Wireless (G) Network without any issues for a long time on plain i5 Lapdog, but getting there took some testing and teasing https://sites.google.com/view/vk1hw/rad ... 100d/win10.

Hope this is of interest and helps one or two like minded Amateur Radio Operators.

Quick update.
I have now moved to Angelia_P2_v11.7. It looked like that during longer usage (ragchew) PS stopped working using v11.6.
After a few short QSO's all looks/sounds as good as 11.6 FOR ME and MY ANAN.

And another update:

Back to PowerSDR ...
After approx an hour running Thetis the Radio looses its NIC, click a few (or one) relays and I have to restart Thetis and from there on wards about every 5 - 10 min the same routine.
So I've sadly moved back to PwrSDR.

Sounds like it could be the PTC ("fuse") overheat issue.

Yeah my thoughts too. Need to find an bigger fuse (same form factor), but I think that is quite hard. So a bit of research needs to be done on that front.

I've done the research for you, but have not installed nor verified that is solves any problems:

Anan 100D first edition, gray housing. My 100D is heavy modified. There are heat sinks installed on many chips , 2 additional fans in the front panel and a very big heat sink on top with additional fan. This was done by the former owner.
Installed Angelia_Protocol_2_v12.1_pre2_5550 and Tetis 2.6.8 (2019-09-30). Everything went smoothly except PureSignal. I went back to Angelia_Protocol_2_v12.1_pre1_5770 and PureSignal is working well. No problem with the fuse yet.
I used HPSDRProgrammer_web.exe (Programmer P2) to install P2 firmware without any problem. This prevented me from open the box an hassle with the jumper.

Ok,

quick update. Installed new fuse and it looks like the issue is resolved.
If there is interest I'll post pics.

Hi all, here I have anan 100D also the first edition, grey box. Firmware is 11.6 and the very last Thetis.

Time to time the RX seem to be deaf, all signals go down and under the noise line level in the panadapter window ( under the scale ). If i transmit in cw some dits sometimes cure the problem and all go again to normal situation. It seem like if the RTX antenna relay fail by a bad contact. This happen to me after i migrate to P2. This never happen with P1. I didn't check to load P1 again to see if this happen, I don't have the boot switch and need to open the box.

Regards, Jesus, EA1DAV.

Fuse: MF-USML400-2 (Element14 277-6833) fits like a glove.
