Introducing the ANAN-7000DLE MKII

Postby administrator » Sun Dec 30, 2018 2:44 am

Hi All,

We are pleased to introduce the ANAN-7000DLE MKII, there are several improvements and changes incorporated in this radio which improve the performance, stability and usability.

1. Integrated i5/i7 Windows 10 computer with SDR client preloaded and calibrated at the factory making the radio completely plug and play. (NO EXTERNAL PC Required)
2. Capable of driving three full HD monitors, ideal for digital modes.
3. Stainless steel chassis and large aluminium heatsink for excellent thermal dissipation and Rx/Tx isolation.
4. PA board improvements for higher duty cycle, 100% ICAS duty cycle supported.
5. Tx Signal generation redesigned to improve SNR at low power levels.

will remote control of the 7000DLE MKII, with the onboard computer, be easier and/or have less bandwidth over the internet when remotely operating the unit?

The unit appears to be simply the radio hardware and a PC in the same box. Based on the photos both subsystems look to be completely federated (separate) except for the chassis and power supply. In fact you have to connect both LAN ports on the back either directly or through a switch to make it work. Therefore, unless someone is planning on springing some sort of software surprise on us, it will not work any differently than the current 7000DLE and a separate computer. It's just a different form factor that comes with PowerSDR (or perhaps Thetis) pre-installed and pre-calibrated.

I see no PS sma connections. How would a sampler be attached?

Thx

Carl,

Only the 8000 uses that method. Since the Revision 24 PA/RF board in the 100D and 200D, those radios, and the 7000 series, use the Bypass connector as the input from an external coupler. This is enabled by going into Setup > Ant/Filters > Antenna and turning on the RX Bypass on TX option.

Two simple questions:

1) Is the MK II PA board the same as the one used in the 7000 DLE?
2) Is the fan control system the same ("rattlesnake")?

there seems to be the same Molex connector for an external fan.......

Inferring from the information already released it would seem to be the same PA board but with a better heatsink.

I do have it on good authority that the fan circuit has been remade in accordance with the fan controller IC manufacturer's app. note, so no more square waves out of the controller.

If you look carefully at the photos you will also see that the rear panel breakout board is now properly secured with screws so that it does not bend.

Also, cross-posting from the mailing list we have Abhi's reply to questions posed there:

1. Who is the manufacture of the Windows motherboard that you are using in the 7000DLE?
We are using an Intel embedded 4x4 inch NUC platform with an 8th Generation SoC

2. What is the model number of the motherboard?
NUC8i7BEH/NUC8i5BEK are the retail offerings, we are using an embedded OEM version

3. Does the motherboard have a SPARE PCIe slot, if so what is the speed?
M.2 PCIe version 3.0, x4 this is used for storage and although it is a Mini PCIe slot it cannot be used as an external IO

4. The back panel of the 7000DLE shows a “SLOT”. Is this for an expansion card on the motherboard for external I/O connectors to the outside or just a hole to pass cables?
This is a heat vent for the PC FAN

5. How does the motherboard connect to the Orion MKII?
Externally via a CAT6 patch cable

6. I am aware of several PCIe external graphics card expansion options. Are there plans to use one of these options to add an Nvidia GPU?
None of the current client software requires CUDA processing as Scott has already mentioned, however, the hardware allows for an external card may be added via the USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) connector.

7. EXP GDC Laptop External PCI-E Graphics Card - $55 https://www.amazon.com/Laptop-External- ... B00Q4VMLF6
This will not work since it requires a traditional PCIe connector

8. Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box - $250 https://bizon-tech.com/us/egpu/sonnet-e ... akaway-box
This should be compatible via the USB-C port

9. What are the plans for Windows software, SERVER etc?
The software is community driven and the availability of the 7000DLE MKII hardware may drive the development of a client/server based architecture.

Very interesting! So there should be something like a "mod info" available!
Has there been an update/change of the schematics? I only have the original ones.....

Does anybody have info/ updated schematics?

Thanks

Volker--you don't need a new schematic (and I haven't seen one). Just change the FET to an appropriately rated BJT in accordance with this app. note:

Thanks, Scott

this AN is well known. I was just looking for testet values for Rbase, C and perhaps a proposal for the transistor...

If Apache Labs modifies the circuitry, there should be updates schematics available, at least for the owners of the "new" version 7000 DLE.

I don't want to critisize, don't get me wrong

thanks again

Volker,

Please start a separate topic for 7000 fan mod's. Or perhaps add on to the existing one where you have posted before.

https://apache-labs.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2682

That way this topic can remain a more general discussion of the 7000 MKII.

Thanks,

Scott
