Speaker hookup on Anan-7000DLE

Postby The Operator » Sun Dec 02, 2018 4:13 am

Question

1. Can you use a regular 8 ohm speaker or do it need to be a powered speaker?
2. There's two 1/4 speaker jacks on the back labeled right and left, If I'm only using one speaker which side do I use?

New Apache Labs user

Thanks

1) Yes. But you MUST use stereo plugs, please RTFM
2) left speaker for RX1, right speaker for RX2

VERY true--connect the tip and ring of the stereo plug across ONLY the voice coil of a speaker. Do NOT connect the shield to anything. Do NOT ground tip or ring. This is a 3W powered speaker output using a bridge-tied amplifier circuit, not a headphone or line out.
2) left speaker for RX1, right speaker for RX2
Not so true--RX1 and RX2 can be assigned to either left or right channel independently via the Pan controls on the console user interface. You need only use a single speaker if you do not need any stereo effects.

P.S. this post has nothing to do with forum problems--moving this to the correct sub-forum, which is "microphones, speakers and audio".

Thanks for your help

I have another question
Are the speaker jacks on the back Stereo or Mono ? reason for asking I'm using a 1/4 Mono plug and when plugged all the way in I get no sound out of my speaker, but If I pull the plug out just a little where it doesn't seat all the way I can hear just fine out of my speaker. So do I need to use a 1/4 Stereo plug and wire to the Ring and Tip only?

Thanks again

Hmmm...

First reply says "you MUST use stereo plugs, please RTFM".

Second reply says "connect the tip and ring of the stereo plug across ONLY the voice coil of a speaker. Do NOT connect the shield to anything. Do NOT ground tip or ring."

And...did you read the manual (where it says the same things)?

What do you think the answer is? Just sayin' ;)

BTW, it's possible you damaged the amp using the mono plugs. You'll find out when you wire it up correctly.

I must have miss that part in the manual that mention 1/4 stereo plug for the rear speaker jacks, glad you are sharp enough to catch that and yes I did read the other post but I like to verify things before I put them in action.

Now I'm going to say keep up the good work, and thank you for the information
