Astron RM 35 with 8000

Postby greg » Sun Nov 12, 2017 5:57 pm

Want to set up my new 8000 for receive only or <100w drive into a Yaesu VL 1000 amp.
Advice on using the RM 35 as I have not yet purchased a 50a OS.

I'm using a Powerwerx SPS-30DM, which is a 30A supply. It has been working fine to run the radio at the power levels required to drive my amplifier (<40W). I can't speak to how that works at 100W, though.

I use an Astron RM-50M and do occasionally run my 8000 barefoot full power in SSB along with a fair amount of peripheral 12 vdc stuff. The needle hardly moves past 25 amps on peak. At amp drive levels, the needle hardly moves. You should be just fine unless you plan to run full power, barefoot continuous duty modes. That I can't speak to.

Thanks all; the Yaesu Quadra only needs 80w drive for full out.
