Hello friends
I have configured Thetis with Log4om2 and TunerReminder using TCI but WSJT JTDX JTAlert are still controlled by old CAT using VSPE. Can CW Rx Tx be done using TCI?
Can someone please suggest how to setup these applications using RCI possibly with screenshots.
Thank you for your support.

Re: TCI with WSJT JTAlert CW. How to setup?
WSJT-X uses hamlib for communications and does not support TCI. There is this software to make a TCI connection but it's a pointless and unnecessary complexity when Thetis supports CAT, i.e. it's really only useful for SunSDR. I've can't help with this as I've never used it.
JTAlert does not make CAT or TCI connections, it connects directly to WSJT-X.
JTDX supports TCI as is. I don't use JTDX or TCI so I'm not helping much except to let you know that it supports TCI.

Dear Scott,
I wonder you are a walking encyclopaedia
God must have created you as a special project.
You are well researched, organised and helpful.
I will be shifting to JTDX from WSJT as it's much more sensitive. I have seen post that TCI is doable and wsjtx
i know doesn't support TCI in setup. That's why I thought JTDX will be the same. I will go through JTDX details today and configure it with TCI too.
Thank you. & 73

I'm also really good with Google. I need to start learning how to better leverage ChatGPT
eta: It looks like the AIs are not that smart about ham radio. Both ChatGPT and Bard erroneously report that WSJT-X implements TCI. I guess I'll stick with regular Google search for now!

Dear Scott,
Initially, I could not understand how JTDX support TCI as is as there is only CAT settings. I searched and found 2 videos first by our superhero @mw0lge Richie and the second one by N8SDR. Richie did not show any setup though and was running 2 copies of JTDX connected to RX1 & RX2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-8ttd_4_u0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiihF5aikKg&t=342s
N8SDR shows that one needs to select TCI as a radio from the radio dropdown list instead of Kenwood TH2000 as we normally do with our sdr.
I did that as he suggested but once I press "Test CAt" it failed and the reason that windows tell me that "TCI SDT is not switched on"
At this time my TunerReminder and Log4om2 both connected to Thetis using TCI and not CAT or hamlib / Omnirig and all these three programs working as they should.
Richie or anyone else may please guide me what am I doing wrong? A screenshot is attached.

As I wrote above, I don't use JTDX or TCI so I'm not helping much except to let you know that it supports TCI. With luck someone else who is familiar with JTDX will chime in.

You need to enter the TCI server details

Re: TCI with WSJT JTAlert CW. How to setup?
Dear Tony,
Thank you for your post.
I have added the TCI IP address in the JTDX radio tab but it did not make any difference. CAT Test(RCI) is failed yet again.
I am posting all the screenshots from Thetis, Log40m2, TunerReminder and JTDX.
See if still something missing.

Re: TCI with WSJT JTAlert CW. How to setup?
Look at the very first tacked thread here: viewforum.php?f=16
TCI audio is not supported in Thetis yet. You still have to use VAC to move audio to/from other digi software.
If JTDX can use TCI for CAT and VAC for audio then perhaps you can get it to work. If selecting TCI in JTDX assumes/requires that TCI audio is also present then it's not going to work for you.

Re: TCI with WSJT JTAlert CW. How to setup?
TCI is working with JTDX. I am not sure from which JTDX-version it runs stable, but on my setup it is working.
As alternative you can use the following setup:
1) activate "TCP/IP CAT Server" in Thetis (ie "127.0.0.1:13013")
2) in JTDX select Rig "Kenwood TS-2000" and for Serial Port enter "127.0.0.1:13013" ... yes instead of selecting a virtual com-port, just enter the ip:port
If you using TCI or TCPIP-CAT make sure you are using the correct ip-addresses (ip-loopback 127.0.0.1 or the "real" ip-address, here 10.0.0.5). Running TCPIP-CAT server on 127.0.0.1 and entering 10.0.0.5 in JTDX would not work.

Re: TCI with WSJT JTAlert CW. How to setup?
I just downloaded JTDX 2.2.159 from SourceForge, which appears to be the latest and greatest.
Just as I suspected, there is an option in the audio setup that needs to be properly addressed. Do NOT check that box. Instead you must set up some virtual audio cables to make the audio connection. Muzy VAC, VB Cable or Voicemeeter, whatever you prefer.

Re: TCI with WSJT JTAlert CW. How to setup?
Dear Ernst & Scott,
Thank you for your input. My JTDX Version is the latest 2.2.159 32A
It's now working with the alternate arrangement by activating the TCP-IP server.
The audio settings I am using are old standard VAC and not TCI.
I would like to use the standard TCI though because running 2 instances may be easier choosing TCI RX1 & RX2 and what do I need to do using this way to run 2 instances
of JTDX for Rx1 & RX2 to monitor 2 bands for expeditions or wanted DX.
Here are my working screenshots.
thank you again.

Re: TCI with WSJT JTAlert CW. How to setup?
So use TCI, what's the problem? It works fine. Just don't select it for audio.
Re: TCI with WSJT JTAlert CW. How to setup?
Absolutely no issue except that if there is a primary way and it's working with other folks, it should work here too.
The main advantage is that you can run 2 instances with predefined RX.
I may be required to add another pair of VAC for RX2
Thanks Scott.
