Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Forgot to mention that N1MM and the Andromeda are on different Windows computers, but on the same LAN. ....Erik.
Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Step 1: set the Andromeda PC to static IP addressing if it is not already. DHCP addressing will allow that IP to change and that can't be allowed. There are a million web articles on how to do this in Windows, just Google it if you don't know how.
Step 2: restart Thetis on Andromeda (or just reboot the entire machine).
Step 3: in Thetis go to the pictured setup screen, hit the IPv4 button, select the IP that looks like it goes with your network (not the 127.0.0.1 address). That should go into the "Bind IP:Port" box. Make note of that address and the port (it won't be the same as mine).
Step 4: in the same setup screen, enable the Server Running checkbox.
Step 5: in the pictured N1MM setup screen make the selections as depicted, but use the IP:Port address from Step 3 above (again, don't use my address, it won't be the same).

Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Thanks, Scott, I think this is close to what I did, but I'll have to check tomorrow.
I have been trying to get an IPtoSerial configuration to use the CAT serial port configuration to work, but ran out of time.

Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Hi Scott,
Nope, no luck. I even tried the same port you have. The N1MM log on the Andromeda shows nothing - it is empty. I also tried to turn the firewall off.
I can ping the Andromeda from my shack computer, but the N1MM reports: "Flex5000 RX2 on COM 1001 is not responding" It is the latest version of N1MM, btw.
I guess it is time to reset the database.

That's just guessing. And it won't work.va7qi wrote:I guess it is time to reset the database.
Post screenshots of the relevant Thetis and N1MM setup pages.
Temporarily turn off Windows firewall on both machines.
What are the IP addresses of both machines.
Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Hi Scott,
Tried to send the configuration screens, but I can't seem to get images into the forum. Do I need some permission from admin?

Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Thanks, I missed the attachment tab.
Firewall has been disabled on both machines and I even tried to reset the database. I can ping Andromeda from my N1MM machine and also tried a few different port numbers.
Here are the screen shots.

Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Yes, sir, a picture is worth a thousand words!
It seems you missed, or misunderstood, "Step 3" from my post above. I'll repeat it here with some bolding for emphasis...
Step 3: in Thetis go to the pictured setup screen, hit the IPv4 button, select the IP that looks like it goes with your network (not the 127.0.0.1 address). That should go into the "Bind IP:Port" box. Make note of that address and the port (it won't be the same as mine).
That address should be the one you've got in N1MM. And port, too, of course.
You'll need to unclick and reclick the Server Running checkbox to make the new address setting active, I think. Or just quit and restart Thetis.

Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Well, some progress. After changing the IP address to Andromeda's WiFi interface, I saw that RX2 got turned off by N1MM. It - once - set the frequency to the default for 80 m (3600), but never read the frequency from the radio when I changed it - and I still get the same error on N1MM.
It is almost as if packets are lost, but I never see any other network issue and I can ping the radio from the computer that hosts N1MM with return time 1 mS.
I just looked at the N1MM server log on Thetis. It shows interrogation by N1MM, but it responds with the frequency of RX2 although N1MM has turned RX2 off. It looks like N1MM is not getting this data. I'll have to play with port numbers and review the firewall settings as well as my LAN switches. The radio and computer are on different switches, but the switches are connected.
Thanks for getting me this far!

Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
So now you've got 192.168.0.201:13013 in both places?
What is the IP of the N1MM computer?
Did you set the IP of the a Andromeda to static? .201 does not seem like a good static address. What are the static and DHCP address pools of your router?

Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Hi Scott,
It is working now. It was the firewall on Windows 11. It turns out that it is not enough to turn the LAN firewall off; the domain firewall also must be off. I am not on a formal domain, but I guess MSFT thinks so.
BTW an observation: RX2 now remains enabled on Andromeda, but N1MM only sees RX1 even if focus is on RX2, which is fine with me.
All is well here.
Thanks again for your patience and expert guidance.

You asked this same question back in May 2022, got your answer, and said it was working.

Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Here is my setup for playing .wav files in N1MM. First record the .wav messages you want and put them in the N1MM Wav directory. In N1MM SSB message editor you select path to the messages.
In N1MM audio setup & monitor you select appropriate VAC feed to Thetis.

It doesn't work perfectly, it gets stuck at the end of the word.
Re: Interfacing Thetis to N1MM?
Unfortunately that's not enough to understand the problem.4L5O wrote:It doesn't work perfectly, it gets stuck at the end of the word.
What gets stuck? Are you saying it does not stop transmitting? Or does it stop transmitting too soon like you wrote in your posts from May?
A lot more detail than that would be helpful in order to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it. And it would appear from your call sign that English might not be the language you are most comfortable with. Because this forum is inhabited primarily by English speakers, if that is the case then extra detail can be important in order to help those of us limited to only English, such as myself.
Screenshots are also very, very helpful. If you've got any screen shots you think might be important, please, by all means post them. JPGs or PNGs are preferred. Instructions are here: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2529
