VAC settings, and state, are saved as part of the transmit profile. Make or update a transmit profile that has VAC the way you want. This is also true for PureSignal state.dmalcolm wrote:I run mostly digital (FT8). Thetis v2.8.11 doesn’t retain the VAC Enable setting when I shut it down. Not a big deal to re-enable on startup but it is a fault somewhere. Can someone tell how to fix that.
BTW all other settings seem to be saved just fine.

Re: Thetis 2.8.11 Released!
Thanks for the new update most of the problems on my Anan 10e have now been solved.
But i still have a pure signal issue if i run pure signal with dup on in protocol 1 pure signal seems to be working but the pan adapter freezes on transmit and returns when in rx i still don't know if this is just a limitation in protocol 1 with thetis or a bug.
I have tried upgrading to protocol 2 and the pan adapter does not freeze and acts as it should but pure signal seems very unreliable with protocol 2 sometimes it works sometimes it does not .
Thanks

Re: Thetis 2.8.11 Released!
Is it just me? 2.8.11 with Anan 100 loses the ability to transmit frequently. Cycle the Power button and it usually gives "hardware error:" and I have to power cycle the rig too. Once in a while just the software Power cycle is all that's needed. PTT works but no power out.
Never had this problem with 2.8.7 and I'm going to switch back and see if the problem goes away.

Try lowering the main sampling rate to 48000 samples per second. I had this problem with my 10e.

Any problem that requires a power cycle of the hardware is typically indicative of a firmware problem. Are you running protocol 2? If so then try a different version of the firmware to see if it works better for you.

I identified the problem....my ethernet card is doing a reset randomly....arrgghhh..relatively new computer too with a built-in-everything and no freakin' slots to add anything...and it's a high end HP Omen...no PCI slots at all.,

P1, 2.8.11, 7000dlc running the sample rate at 9600 results in distorted SSB audio and undecodeable data rx1&rx2.
Just happy I found the problem.

2.8.11 x64 runs great on my 7000DLE MKII Protocol 2. I realize the Midi support was not changed. Just confirming that it works with my Behringer CMD PL-1 Midi controller. Thanks to everyone who helped make this possible!

Yes, MIDI still works. Some people have experienced trouble copying over their MIDI settings. When transitioning to the 64 bit version, I have found that simply copying over the midi2cat file works. No need to take any other actions, however YMMV.
Re: Thetis 2.8.11 Released!
The 64 bit 2.8.7 and now 2.8.11 have been working perfectly with my 7000 mk2. With 2.7 I was getting occasional seq errors with p2 pre8 firmware. Now I've went back to the latest P2 firmware and still have no seq errors like I had with 2.7 and pervious versions of Thetis. Thanks to all the developers and Guinea pigs that make it happen.
Re: Thetis 2.8.11 Released!
Just to note that my 200D is running very smoothly with the recent updates to Thetis (up to 2.8.11). There seem to be a couple of notable improvements in stability as far as I am concerned, and this is with VAC and Pure Signal. I've always had stability problems with VAC (sequence errors and dropouts) and rarely would Thetis run for more than a few hours without crashing out, especially when I was doing other activities on my multi-use PC. However, VAC stability has improved markedly from 2.8.7 onwards. Pure Signal was erratic for me before. It would always work eventually, but often required a few starts to 'warm it up' and the use of two tone tuning to activate it. Now, PS seems to work very well, pretty much first time every time for SSB use. That is a big improvement.
MIDI also works with my 200D, though I only use it for VFO control.
My thank you to those who continue to work on making Thetis an outstanding piece of software.

Now running 2.8.11 and the bug below still exist.
Running Thetis 2.8.9 x64 on ANAN-100B protocol 1 (version 1.3) using W10 x64. Dell i5 desktop 8 gig ram, SS drive. 1 gig switch between radio and computer.
Bug: Random bad SSB TX audio reports, most TX is good, then a bad transmission occurs. Told it has a distorted echo sound. Has happened on 40, 60 and 17 meters with two different mics.
Been using the same setup on latest version of mRX and never a bad report.

Doug,
The OC EXT CTL button is working again. I have no idea what caused it to start functioning. Possibly a reset of either the software or 7000DLE a few days ago. Anyway, all is well for now.

I have try several settings also the Default for Protocol 1on my Anan10 (16bits) but still the same.
I have noise from the speaker but no hf signal as you can see .
See the spike in the middle, its always visible in the middle when i switch to several bands.

I am just trying Thetis 2.8.11 but very similar problem with Angelia board (100D). Noise but no receive on Rx1 and big carrier spike at center fx on Rx2. I have tried the suggestions on the forum, but nothing has worked. Have you solved this problem? It works fine with PSDR 3.4.9. 73, Jay, HP3AK

Walter's problem was fixed with 2.8.11.
Are you running P1 or P2?
Have you tried either a database reset or completely deleting the settings folder?

2.8.11 sets the correct defaults for the DDC assignments, but unless you do a database reset I think you will have DDC2 set to ADC0 from the previous version.
Set DDC2 to ADC1 and see what happens.

Re: Thetis 2.8.11 Released!
I noticed a very small glitch when upgrading to 2.8.11. The Wave Options are not imported and the new version goes back to the defaults.
I too have noticed that the new version is very stable on my 7000 black. Running the 64 bit version at 96K, 128, and buffer latency at 10 now runs all day with little to no creep in overflows or underflows. The past instabilities that would hit randomly and run up the error counts dramatically are gone completely now. I do still see the startup glitch that causes the counters to take off but once I click Manual on Buffer Latency a time or two that solves the problem until the next startup.
I also see what others have mentioned regarding Pure Signal not working randomly and a power on reset is required to get it back but this is not new for me.

Same experience here, Once VAC channel audio is engaged, I see a brief burst of under/overflows, but with 2.8.11, it mostly stays there for hours without drifting. In prior releases, it would build to several hundred in about an hour. However, none of it affected audio or digital decoding as far as I can tell.

Re: Thetis 2.8.11 Released!
I'm running Thetis 2.8.11 64 bit with Firmware Metis_Orion_MkII_Protocol_2_v2.0b. I'm running audio VAC at 192000 Sample Rate, 512 Buffer, and Ring buffer at 35ms In and Out. I get the small burst of Overflows and Underflows when I first Power On Thetis. After that it pretty much runs clean. I have tried many other iterations of the firmware with little to no discernable difference in performance. A few days back I was seeing a few sequential errors. I'm not seeing them today. I have been working a number of bands with good signal and audio reports. I was curious to see if those errors would reappear and if so was there a resulting negative effect on transmitted audio. I've had no complaints. I've am surprised at also seeing no further Overrflow/Underflow errors.
Today everything seems to be rock solid. Tomorrow might be another story. I've been using a little app to stall any Windows Updates so I can be present to install updates. So far that has been working well. It's called Windows Update Blocker. Normally, I try and avoid any third party apps like that, but this seems to be working well. I guess after a while one obtains experience in knowing what to look at after a Windows Update. Updates have been known to wreak havoc with my audio set up. Lately it's been no issues.

Hi Paul,
Just curious, why do you use Voicemeeter between Thetis and your Studio 192 Mobile?

Re: Thetis 2.8.11 Released!
That startup issue with VAC is quite common. I have it all the time.
I use Voicemeeter between my Presonus and Thetis so I can mix/patch two Presonus mic inputs, VAC2, digi mode software, and stuff like that.

Re: Thetis 2.8.11 Released!
Thanks for the update!
I'm running the latest Thetis 2.8.11 x64 version.
Everything seem to be working fine for me on my Anan 100B running protocol 2 firmware 10.3, except PureSignal runs very unstable, unreliable and distorted compared to protocol 1.
I did revert to protocol 1 firmware and can confirm that PureSignal works flawlessly there, but I rather have the features and performance of running on protocol 2.
Can this be fixed?
Anan 10e and 100b are the only radios that haven't received any firmware updates for over two years compared to other models.
They need some love because they're great little compact radios!

My understanding is we don't need protocol 2. If you are running the latest thetis then you are running the latest and greatest. Correct me if I am wrong!
I have tried every protocol 2 firmware and there was always something that didn't work right, however going back to protocol 1 appears to work great.

Larry,
Can't go back to protocol 1! Here's why:
1. Protocol 1 runs @ 100Mbps with up to 192Khz sample rate limit (384KHz sample rate and stitched receivers are not supported under Protocol 1 Thetis 2.8.11).
2. Protocol 2 runs @ 1000Mbps with up to 1500Khz sample rate.
THETIS (Protocol 2) USABLE SAMPLE RATES:
768000 WIDEBAND SPECTRUM
384000 for PURESIGNAL
PowerSDR mRX PS (Protocol 1) USABLE SAMPLE RATES:
192000 WIDEBAND SPECTRUM
96000 for PURESIGNAL
I have been using Thetis (Protocol 2) for over two years without PureSignal and still preferred over Protocol 1 for performance, speed, flexibility and features for remote operation.

To answer your question, "Can this be fixed?", the answer is "only if you can find a firmware engineer who is willing to work on improving the firmware." Remember that you are only buying your hardware from Apache. The fully open source software and firmware comes from a very, very small cadre of talented software and firmware developers. To date, as far as I know, there have been only 4 people who have ever worked on the firmware. None of them seem to be currently interested in and/or, due to life and work issues, able to work on improving any version of the firmware. And with the 14-bit Hermes FPGA at 99% utilization, it would be difficult to do better on that specific platform.
I am going to shamelessly crack down on firmware related thread drift in this topic. Further discussions related to firmware need to go in the appropriate firmware topic. All of the hardware platforms have their own, dedicated Protocol 2 firmware topics here:
