20db boost v2.10.3.3

Postby n2gq » Fri Nov 17, 2023 11:39 pm

My 20db boost does not seem to work. If I turn it off or on, makes no difference.
I use the mic input at the front of radio.

I reset the database and nothing happened. I reloaded the database nothing changed. I then turned the radio off then on again and the 20db was selectable again.

Unusual behavior with diversity. Running thetis 2.10.3.3 on W10 64 bit and a 7000dle. Turn diversity on then off and rx1 goes full screen noise. Tried cycling Thetis off then on and it hung up. Had to go to task manager to shut it down.

sorry Ron, but why in this mic boost thread? and as an aside, try using 2.10.3.4 pre-release-6

Yes, sorry. Not fully awake yet. Will download and install latest version.

Sorry for cluttering this stream up :)

When you power cycle the ANAN that reboots the firmware. Since the 20dB boost is an internal CODEC IC setting, and that is controlled by the FPGA, it suggests it could be a firmware issue.

That said, it's probably not worth pursuing as a definitive problem until it starts to happen regularly. The firmware is not perfect, it can get into funny states from time to time. Not often, thankfully, but sometimes. I had it happen to me a few weeks ago. PureSignal just stopped working. Restarting Thetis had no effect. Power cycling the ANAN fixed the problem.

Yes, first time it did this. I realized this because my mic gain was so high it was picking up dust landing on my desk :D. I was adjusting the cfc compressor and made a mistake thinking the center of sliders were 0db. Then discovered the switch stopped worked for a bit.
