The 'You can' thread

Postby ramdor » Tue Oct 10, 2023 2:17 am

A list of you can's. If you know of any others that you want to share please add them to the thread. Succinct is good ;)

  • you can hold CTRL during startup until you see a message. This will cause an 'upgrade' on your database even if it has been previously upgraded. This is done by taking a copy of your current database, replacing it with a new fresh one, and importing all your settings from the copy back into the new one. Your old DB will be stored in the archive folder
  • you can hold SHIFT during startup until you see a message. This will move your existing database into the archive folder, and create a new fresh database
  • you can right click on AGC gain sliders to enable/disable auto gain noise floor compensation. This is the same as the checkboxes in the Setup->DSP->AGC/ALC
  • you can right click drag power and tuners siders to set a power limit. Output power will be limited if the slider is dragged into this red area
  • you can link audio sliders in Setup->Audio->Options
  • you can check your firewall configuration by running Thetis as an administrator and clicking the [Firewall Check] button in Setup->General tab
  • you can assign different actions to the two buttons on the info bar by right clicking to show the other buttons and then right click on the one you want. Note: any can be left clicked in the drop down to activate if you don't want to assign it to the bar
  • you can right click the splitter bar on a panafall display when only using rx1 to return it to the centre
  • you can left click the SQL button to cycle to VSQL
  • you can right click some buttons in the UI to take you to the related Setup tab
  • you can shift left click on the [Split] button to quickly enable quick split
  • you can double click any pan control to return to centre
  • you can enable 'Network Throttle Index Tweak' by running Thetis as administrator and enabling the checkbox in Setup->H/W Select
  • you can switch from ATT to S-ATT mode by double clicking the ATT/S-ATT label above the attenuator dropdown/numbercontrol on the main UI for both RXs
  • you can add a MNF at mouse position frequency by olding CTRL and right clicking on the spectrum
  • you can right click a MNF on the spectrum to bring up a config window
  • you can save a zip file containing your database and other log files by clicking the [Zip database.xml and log files] button in Setup->Tests (full release 2.10.2)
  • you can speed up or slow down the noise floor tracking by adjusting RXn Noise Floor Attack in the Setup->DSP->AGC/ALC tab
  • you can show your bandstack entries on the spectrum, and click them to select. Option is in the band stack window which is shown if you click on 'BandStack' text in the middle of the VFOSync/etc group.
  • you can view what has changed compared to the selected TX profile by clicking the orange box in the Setup window
  • you can quickly add a band stack entry by CTRL click on the band you are on. It will add a new entry leaving the current one untouched

@George, vsql - voice sql. Was included in the jan/aug update. I expect there is a thread somewhere talking about how/why.

Any chance this could be pinned to the top of the list, really useful for rarely used functions.

Thanks
Paul
