Receiver Recording

Postby JohnFT61 » Wed Aug 16, 2023 1:48 am

When one records the receiver, are files generated, and are they saved to a directory?

When one hits the Play button during transmit, is the last audio file played?

Yes, it plays the file "SDRQuickAudio.wav" located in the Thetis data directory.

If you want to save multiple files use the "Wave" option on the main menu bar in Thetis. Files saved with this feature are stored in the Thetis folder in your standard Windows "Music" folder.

Ernst,

Where is the Data directory located? I don't see it in the same directory where the Thetis program is stored. I know it can in in many different places in Windows 10/11...

Thank you!

What am I missing? I used to be able to record and playback my own transmissions using the record and playback on console, not bringing up the WAVE function.

It still works to record and playback received signals, but on my own, only get some very low level garbling and odd pictures on waterfall. Latest Thetis and using audio in/out as shown. This was very convenient to get quick check on my audio into dummy load.

Using other means, I know my signal is good and looks fine in display when transmitting, just not getting captured correctly for playback.

Try updating to the latest release, 2.10.3.5 final just to be sure that's not the problem.

I am getting the same gibberish as W4BF is reporting. I can hear my audio in the background, but garbled.
I am running P2 with the latest u1.

NO, This does not fix the issue. This records the I/Q quadrature output, NOT THE TRANSMITTED AUDIO. This is insufficient and incorrect as a representation of the TX AUDIO.

I made some changes and have built a work in progress build. Please try https://github.com/ramdor/Thetis/releas ... 10.3.6-dev

I just tested Richies latest Dev work and it indeed seems to be recording MIC audio now. A good test is to do a quick recording on one band, play it back to verify it, then switch to another band to see if it still plays. It does thus it couldn't be an IQ recording.

Thanks Richie!

You could actually play back the I/Q recording anywhere previously, I suspect you still can. But, mic audio recording is indeed working. Thanks so much.

When playing back an audio recording without pressing the PTT or MOX button and with the CTUN button pressed, you cannot hear the audio recording if you are not exactly in the middle of the band.

With the PTT or MOX button pressed, you can hear the audio recording because the TX FIlter is on the corresponding frequency.
Only when CTUN is switched off, the TX filter positions itself in the middle and I can hear the audio transmission without pressing the PTT button.

PS The slow regression of the baseline in the video after I let go of the play button is due to the parameter "Adjust Min to Noise Floor" being set
