New Thetis ATT Settings

Postby K1GMM » Wed Apr 05, 2023 12:33 pm

I just installed the newest Thetis posted roughly 3 weeks ago. Was wondering if I'm missing something. It appears the RX1 and 2 attenuators are locked together now. Change one and the other changes/vise versa.
I must be able to have control over the attenuators independently as I use diversity NC as well as diversity reception about 80% of the time and having independent control over both rx ATT's is paramount for this system to work properly with my antennas. Any thoughts appreciated. I have uninstalled the current version as it's useless to me without that ability. Currently running on 2.8.11k8 flawless.

Thank you,

S-ATT works fine with RX1 and RX2 in the latest version, which is 2.9.0.8. I believe it was also OK in 2.9.0.6.

What version did you try?

What might be catching you out is that S-ATT behavior has been improved since 2.8.11.

If you have both RX1 and RX2 assigned to ADC0 then the S-ATT adjustment for both will be in lockstep because both are sharing the same S-ATT on the ADC0 hardware chain.

The only way you can get RX1 and RX2 S-ATT to adjust independently is to ensure that RX1 and RX2 are assigned to two separate ADCs, typically ADC0 and ADC1, respectively.

Finally, it is possible to use beam forming diversity with RX1 and RX2 both set to ADC0 because when that mode is enabled the second channel actually comes from DDC1 assigned to ADC1 (assuming you are running protocol 2). However that does beg the question about what ADC1 S-ATT is set to in such a case. 2.8.11 and all other versions of Thetis have this same problem.

Check your settings in Setup > General > ADC.

Hi All,

just checked: RX1 on ADC 0 RX2 on ADC 1
If Diversity is Enabelt the ATTs are linked, if Diversity is disabelt, I can set the ATTs different.

I confirm your findings, Erwin.

There is a work-around: set your S-ATT settings first, then enable diversity. However, as soon as you touch S-ATT with diversity enabled they do synchronize.

It would be best to report this as a bug at Richie's GitHub repository issues page.
