Can't adjust TX bandwidth using mouse

Postby JJ4SDR » Sun May 01, 2022 7:43 pm

I am on Thetis 2.9.06 x64 and attempted to adjust TX bandwidth using my mouse but it didn't pan out. No doubt my settings aren't right.

Two screen-captures below for reference.

What am I missing?

Didnt know the mouse wheel could adjust the TX bandwidth. How are you doing that?

There is no interactive adjustment of the TX transmit bandwidth in the spectrum when in receive. It can only be done using the up/down number controls on the main gui (just above the TX FL button), or in setup in the Transmit tab (Transmit filter).

It can be adjusted with the mouse in the spectrum when in TX, however there are some issues with it which need to be fixed. I have never used it like that personally.

Remember, TX bandwidth is stored per TX profile, so adjustments you make will be temporary unless the TX profile is saved.

Gary, Richie,

Gary:
I can't but a buddy of mine in Florida can and he uses the same exact Thetis version that I do (except that his works in P2, but I don't think that has anything do with this).

Richie:
Ditto above.....my buddy told me that when the mouse cursor morphs into a double arrow line I can drag the TX band-width by clicking the left mouse button and then just drag the bandwidth out. This, just to experiment rather than save anything necessarily. He did it on the fly while we were in contact the other day and I just tried to do the same..... :?

Thanks again for the feedback!

You tried while TX'ing? As Richie states it only works while in TX and even so there apparently are issue. Your screenshot shows you in receive so just wanted to make sure this was clear.

As Richie wrote, there are some issues with it. I can report that it doesn't work for me here, I.e. I cannot adjust the TX passband graphically when in transmit.

What I normally do is turn on the TXFL lines and then use the TX passband controls to adjust my TX bandwidth until the lines match up with the bandwidth of the others is the QSO.

Cory,
Yes, I did try dragging the TX bandwidth out while in TX mode. Again, my buddy was able to do just that..... :o
Best!

Maybe I'm premature with my question, When the TX bandwidth is adjusted with the mouse, is the adjusted bandwidth supposed to be retained the next transmissions?
Is this one of the things that's broken?

IIRC this used to work, and maybe still does in PowerSDR mRX. Doing this was no different than using the numeric controls. It does not currently work in Thetis.

Does that clear up any confusion?

I guess I could always get a MIDI controller and assign the TX bandwidth control to one of the sliders or knobs on the MIDI. Been thinking of going this route any way to put some phyusical wheels, knobs and sliders to the radio.

Hi, currently TX low/high filter can only be assigned to a wheel.
I never tried if it works with a knob or slider, but don't be disappointed if it doesn't work.

Hi Leon,
That's odd. Perhaps it depends on the MIDI controller you are using? Which one do you have?

Hi, i'm using a DJControl Compact but this is a Thetis limit/shortcoming, not the controller. (look at the list of useable midi commands in Thetis)
