Forgive the dumb question: uninstall - does that mean if I want to try the new beta I will have to rebuild, entirely, my database? I customize a huge amount including lots of Appearance changes.

Also I'm seeing guys here in this thread that say they did not uninstall and it worked, kept DB... any harm in doing so?

no, the uninstall process does not touch your database

Richie,

Is there a particular file or files that the PA calibration settings are saved in? I'm already saving and backing up the Thetis directory and everything in the c:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis-x64 directory.

Richie,

I tried to change the VFO step size from 2Hz to 5Hz in the appropriate tune_step_list (for my own version with modified diversity functions - just for fun) in file "console.cs" and I've got an error message in VS.
The errormessage says "variable infoBar wasn' t declared or not assigned". The pointer to the relevant source code line leads to this line 6510.

.
What is missing in my configuration?
I can compile the whole project, if I don't change anything in "console.cs" with the designer of VS.
But I can't open console.cs in the designer, because this error occurs and if I ignore this message, I can't compile the project.
My work arround is, to make my few changes with another editor and compile the project with VS without editing console.cs in VS.
But what can I do, to be able to edit "console.cs" with the designer in VS?
Perhaps you have a quick explanation / solution?
Thanks in advance

Wants/Wishes

Include the Memories in the DB so if we export our DB the Memories will be ready for an import if needed after a PC format or other problems.

Thanks!

Include the Memories in the DB ....

Please keep it in a separate XML file but it would be handy if this file (incl the .bak) are moved to a Memories subdirectory under c:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis-x64. So it's more easy to backup the whole Thetis directory and it's sub directories.

You can set them so they fade away. In that mode they will only momentarily show when the overflow/unerflow count increments. The other mode they hide when you click them, only to show again when the over/under increments. Not sure I see any gain from clearing the under/over number tbh.

Leaving this unchecked will cause them to fade away...

The gain is that I wouldn't need to manually go in and clear the indicators and counters individually. IMO it would be more streamlined/elegant to at least have the option to reset the counters and indicators with a single click.

Hi Richie,

Thank you for your update of v2.9.0.6.
I tested it with Alex using my Hermes(TAPR) board.
Unfortunately Alex is not working with v2.9.0.6. On the contrary, Alex is fine with v2.8.11.
Please look at the pictures. When RX, Alex filter functions as for LPF, not BPF. You see the difference.
If there is some trick of setting up, please let us know. My settings of v2.9.0.6 are shown also in the attached pictures including the firmware

Richie,
First off..THANK YOU ! for what you have done, this is just amazing work.
A WANTWISH for you
Is it possible to add Drive level per mode ? IE: Different Drive requirements for AM vs SSB or various digital modes
It may be way more complicated than it is worth code wise but I wanted to ask.

Again Thank you so much for a fantastic piece of software

Work in progress on the new meter system ;) Still loads and loads to do, at least 2-3-4-5-6 weeks away (as long as it takes). The directX surfaces are just floating there at the moment whilst developing. They will eventually move to another window, and may also sit in the main UI.

  • DirectX surfaces
  • Fully scalable
  • Multiple meters each with multiple meter items, with Rx, Mox, Tun, 2Tone specific layouts
  • Meter items source every bit of data available, from the regular meters that we are used to, to pbsnr, pa data, cpu, etc etc
  • Meter items can be overlaid. The needle meters are showing avg_signal (yellow) and signal (red) on top of each other
  • Meter items can have own refresh/update rates
  • Adjustable attack/decay rates
  • Image/png support for backgrounds, and other elements
  • Fully user configured (either xml, or interactive editor, tbd)
  • Z-order system
  • ..
  • ..
  • ..
  • much to do !

RX1 and RX2 are shown in the attachment and the video. Top bar is signal, then avg_signal under it, followed by adc_l + adc_r. The top two bars and the needles are rendering at 60fps, the ADC bars are at 10fps.

Hi

The WB level is not correct. So it should be or not.

Re: Thetis v2.9.0 - Updates and Issues

by w-u-2-o
The WB display has only enough code behind it to just barely show that the WB data stream coming from the firmware works. Do not expect very much from it at this time.

While the WB display is therefore ripe for many improvements, also remember that the preselector, any antenna tuners, and the antenna itself, will all have significant effects on the data displayed. This may or may not impact its usefulness depending upon the situation.

Thanks a lot.
This review is very helpful.
It is clear that you need to be able to directly connect a broadband antenna to view the entire spectrum.

WANTWISH

1. I would like to see the "RXBYPASS on TX" checkbox available on the GUI instead of the setup screen. I (and others) have to check/uncheck regularly when going QRO.

2. I would like to see the "Play sound on expiry" button on the GUI so it would be easy to turn sound on/off on the 10 minute timer. Perhaps a speaker icon on the bottom strip next to the timer.

3. It would be helpful to have the SAM button cycle through the 3 SAM listen modes, LSB, USB. DSB. This would save having to open setup to switch different modes,

Thanks for all your work Richie

Richie I saw the post earlier asking the same question I had about the ability to save PA profiles per mode. After having played with it I think it might work better if there were tied to your TX profiles ?
Don't know if this would be easier to implement and not sure how TX profiles work with CW?

At least it wouldn't need another button

Looking forward to the new meters

Thanks as always
Paul

I wonder if everybody knows or remembers this GUI action (so it's probably worth mentioning):

Many controls on the main console can be right-clicked to bring you directly to the proper setup tab, making many of these changes easy.

Why do you have to do this when QRO? The external coupler will work perfectly fine to feedback the output of the ANAN even though the amplifier is in standby.

Is simply stopping the timer not good enough? You do know you can left click the timer display to stop/start and right click it to reset, right?

A macro button strip or sub-window has already been on the wish list for some time.

By making them macro buttons, i.e. buttons you can simply type CAT strings into, they become all things to all people. Have as many buttons as you want, make them be whatever you want.

Where this gets fancy is to have

- buttons that display the state of a setting
- buttons that can toggle between two strings
- buttons that can send CAT strings out a serial port

Note that much this can be done in a vast array of existing macro software and other control surface solutions, such as Voicemeeter macros, DDUtil (older versions), Stream Deck, Matric, Bitfocus, and Touch Portal and too many others to list. But it would be nice to have a highly integrated version in Thetis. And to be able to import/export config's for those who are unwilling to learn CAT strings to borrow the work of others.

If you are really adventurous and willing to learn, the Node Red low code IoT programming environment is brilliant for this. But that takes a bit of study and effort.

I don't use an external coupler. I (and a few of us) have an RF-Kit amp with an internal coupler that does not give enough feedback when barefoot. I don't use an external coupler because I use all 4 antenna jacks on the amp.

I like to keep the timer running so I can see it, just enabling and disabling the sound as required. That way I still have the 10 minute timer available, I just have to look.
