Hello,
To my understanding one cannot use more than one instance of Thetis at the time or rather one rig at the time when using protocol 2, per computer.
Has anyone tried for instance to run one more instance in a hyperv-VM under WIN10? Or running one instance in a VM running on other hypervisors?
I have multiple computers and 3 ANAN rigs, but it seems to be a bit clumsy to have 3 physical PCs to run 3 rigs, especially since I have 12 cores at hand in my PC... and I would like to run protocol 2.

Re: Multiple Thetis/rigs
Using VMs this should be no problem. Not sure how discovery of multiple hardware instances would work if they were all on DHCP, though. This would definitely work with fixed IPs.
I know I heard somewhere that someone was successful on a single machine with fixed IPs and using the --datapath option for two instances of Thetis. My only question about this anecdote was that I would think both instances would be competing for the same UDP port numbers. Not sure how it works.
Try it and see!

Re: Multiple Thetis/rigs
I can't find the post right off but I did add a note about the command switch to do direct Thetis to different radios. Never had a chance to try, the syntax was:
\Thetis.exe" -datapath:"%appdata%\OpenHPSDR\Radio1
\Thetis.exe" -datapath:"%appdata%\OpenHPSDR\Radio1

I do use two rigs simultanous on a regular basis.
The rigs must have (different) fixed IP's assigned.
The two Thetis instances must be started with -datapath options pointing to the appropiate databases (with fixed IP's and Radio Models configured).
The PC should be fast enough to run both radios with not more then 50% processor load, two 1Gb network interfaces ( one for internet and home network, another for the radios and other ham hardware) are prefered.

Yes, last used Thetis 2.8.11 21f running on WIN7 Ultimate, Intel core2quad 3Ghz, 8Gb RAM.

Walter, are you using protocol 2?

Re: Multiple Thetis/rigs
I'll soon be adding a Hermes Lite 2 to my desktop setup together with an existing ANAN 7000DLE. A few questions:
1) Can the same Thetis software be used in the current directly to operate two radios? Or, will a separate download be required into a different directory?
2) It's mentioned above that a directory command switch is required. Then, if only a single Thetis directory is required, I'm assuming the switch text occurs immediately after the Thetis command EXE?

Re: Multiple Thetis/rigs
This works without any problems. It can be done via the command line.

How far the compatibility of Thetis with HL2 is guaranteed is beyond my knowledge. The basic functions will certainly be available. But I don't know if the control of the filter and PA works.
There is a Thetis version that is optimized for HL2.
https://github.com/mi0bot/OpenHPSDR-Thetis, but it's a bit older.

Sigi, great info. Thanks!

Re: Multiple Thetis/rigs
Sigi, is correct. You will need to use the version of Thetis that has been modified/ optimized, for the HL2. I opted to use a separate computer ( laptop I had sitting around) for my HL2 instead of trying to use both on the same computer. ( have an 8000DLE ) For me, it makes troubleshooting much easier without having to worry about changes for one radio and Thetis version, effecting the other.
