SWL Spotter and EIBI shortwave schedules

Postby DL8LAQ » Mon Jul 12, 2021 9:51 am

Hi all!

I copied the latest csv formatted EIBI list in Thetis folder (under AppData/Roaming/OpenHPSDR...).
Status of SWL Spotter shows "SWL Spotting 7811"
The list has more than 16000 entries, but opening the SWL list it shows only frequencies up to 9.88 MHz.
Searching for Taiwan brings up two entries, while the list contains 116 entries for Taiwan.

Any hint?

Rename the file in SWL.cvs and place it in the map C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis-x64\SWL
Should work, i just tried it, the file is 906kB and has 21159 entries.

btw download "CSV Database", not the other ones on http://eibispace.de/

I did exactely that right before I wrote the new post. If I remove the csv file than SWL list shows nothing.

Norbert,
I think there was a 20k Limit in the previous Thetis Version. Should be fixed in the recent 21xx versions from Richie.

@Leon, would you please provide a link to the csv file in question.

@DH1KLM i have added the link 20sec after my initial post ;)

I use 21c too, the 20k limit has been raised to 50k.

@DL8LAQ can you show me a screenshot of your map content: C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis-x64\SWL\... ?
Did you succeeded to add/use SWL.CSV in the past? (before the 20k limit)
Or send the file that has this problem to leonkoning@hotmail.com so i can check it.

I don't have a folder named ...\Thetis-x64\SWL\...!

I tried SWL List long time ago just for fun, but did not check if all csv data is listed in the SWL list.

What does map content mean?

Check your email :-)

I have to make a correction friends, it has been a while that i imported a swl list. I worked for some months now with my version without updating.
So to try, i just deleted my swl list in the map ….\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis-x64, restarted Thetis and inserted the file again.
Now i have the same issue that DL8LAQ have....

Btw the SWL.CSV file needs to be placed in the ...\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis-x64 or ...\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis map depending you use 64 or 32 bit Thetis version. Not in a submap SWL :  I made that map but only to store a backup.

@ Richie, so something did went wrong with the update to enlarge the file from 20k to 50k entries.

Further testing with 2 older SWL lists (both have > 20k entries) reveals that only the latest EIBI download has this problem!
I'm checking this file now to see what's wrong with it.

I've attached my previous file with 21k entries for those who want it.

The latest EIBI CSV download seems to be corrupt at this row:
9895- 2000-2030 USA Adventist World Radio R FE /GUM-a 8

The - after 9895 is the problem and has been repaired in this new attachment.
Leon.

Leon,
could please explain what do you meant with "map content" or "i just deleted my swl list in the map" or "map depending you use 64 or 32 bit Thetis version" or even "submap SWL :  I made that map but only to store a backup".
Since there is no map or submap SWL, I could imagine that the term "map" means something different for you.

map = folder or directory in the filesystem... I assume....
"Ordner" oder "Verzeichnis" in german.

Thetis is expecting the swl.csv in the data-folder (where also database.xml is located) .. not in any subfolder.

Hi, i already explained this to DL8LAQ in a private email: map = directory. Map content = files in that directory.
But as i already excused for: you don't need to make that ...\SWL directory. The SWL.CSV has to be placed in this directory:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis-x64

Or when you use the 32bit version of Thetis then place it in:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis

If you need more help then please send private e-mail to leonkoning@hotmail.com

I thought so. To avoid confusion, we should stick to the common terms such as folder/directory and file. ;)

Yes, I know about the file location. The point was the different terminology.

you are right, i realize now that the term "map" (that is commonly used in the NL) is confusing. For us it doesn't mean roadmap or karte ;)

In german language it's "Mappe", in english "folder". In germany we say "Ordner" (Dateiordner = computer file system folder) which is the digital form of "Aktenordner" or the english "file folder" in a file shelve.
I love our languages :-)

The repaired SWL.csv is working fine. Thanks Leon!
