Hi Richie and all,
Thanks for all the hard work.

Just a quick comment on PTT and Tune. Like with most things it depends on one's setup. I think right now you have PTT like it should be for hams that want to use Tune with and without PTT for their amps. In my case I use an older "auto" tune tube amp. After I make sure my VSWR is correct, then I need the tune button to engaged the PTT to tune the amp. That also makes it work best for PS.

So just make sure if there are any changes in PTT one can adjust it like it is currently.

For the folks with SS amps I agree this would be a great addition.

Even though I can use the auto feature on my amp that tunes as you use CW and SSB, on phone it will tend to chase new settings with Pure Signal. So to prevent this, I just tune the amp with the drive I want to get the power out. Then turn off "auto" in the amp and engage PS.

Alphas, Acoms, and OM tube amps probably use the way I describe. Thank you very much and 73 de w5jay..

First of all, a big compliment and THANK YOU for your great work.
(Sorry, my english is bad, use google translation)

I have a big wish to Thetis.

When I press the TUNE button, the PTT output on the Anan should be blocked (off).
Why!?
I use Anan7000dleMK2 with ext. Amp LDmos 1K5.
I use the Tune button with 10W drive power for antenna SWR tuning.
If the external amp is ON now, 800 ... 900W power would come.
You can't tune an Ant with it and the amp would be defective.
... At the moment you always have to put the ext amp in standby mode.

All of this could be much easier and safer.

Hence the request:
Can you change the software that the PTT Outp. Pin on the Anan OFF (low) goes when the TUNE button on the console is pressed)
.... In addition, this function should be able to be switched ON or OFF with a checkbox in the setup menu (options or something like that).

That would be a wonderful thing, other hams who work with external amps will certainly be happy too.

I already say thank you and wish you continued success and fun.

best 73 Guenter DK8DX

We cant prevent the PTT Key rca output on the back of the 7000, not at this time anyway. If you use the OC TX pins you can do exactly what you want.

Just a quick note Richie that the 21k3 new Auto AGC is a great addition. I'm still playing around with the settings but to be honest, the default settings are working really well for my purposes. The right click on the slider to enable and disable it is a really slick implementation. Great job!

I agree Rob that this is cool. Still playing around as to what is the best dB Offset.

Had to change some sliders around so that I could tell when it is engaged.

Hi Just went from the last J version to the most recent K version and now my display waterfall and panadapter is very pixelated and jittering unless i run windows scale at 300% also frame rate and left side scale are off the display at 250% scaling
i always ran it at 250% and it was fine. The montior is a 4k tv running at 3840X2160 resolution

Thanks

Richie,

Am I supposed to see a dashed line where the auto AGC thinks the noise floor is? Because I don't see one? Other than that, auto AGC seems to be working fine here.

Thanks!

The noise floor indication works well on 21k3 here. The lines may be a little thick, but that may just be my monitor.

Did you ticked the checkbox "Show Noise Floor on Panadapter" in Setup/Display/RX1?

@fred no idea what is happening there, try reboot, update gfx drivers. Works fine here even on a 2k monitor running at 250% scaling as a test. Nothing has happened from j to k other than a line being drawn if noise floor is shown, and directX resize scheduled before a frame redraw instead of at any random time.

@scott any luck after turning the display on? Setup->Display->RX 1->[show noise floor on panadapter] as Ernst pointed out? You wont see it if the noise floor is scrolled down off the bottom of the panadapter. It did cross my mind that it might be frame rate related as I always run at 60, but tests fine at 30 as the rate of change is framerate/attack rate related.

@eric yep, it is 4pixels wide, now changed to 2. I'll probably add some colour option in at some point

yes it turned out quite nice Tony. It was just one of those 'wake up in the morning with an idea' type things. I fired it off to Scott for some feedback, and coded it up. It is amazing simple actually.

I ran some tests into audacity, on a tuned band, vs untuned, and picked empty areas of those two bands, with same rx filter widths. The af noise into audacity was amazingly close.

Hi I updated the video driver and rebooted no change it seems if I'm set at 250% and it's not acting right I can drag it to my other monitor and then back and it corrects also if I set waterfall update to 1 it clears up I normally run it set at 2 if I place it back to 2 the jiggling and pixelalating comes back this is on an Nvidia 1080ti video card powersdrmrx still works as always at 250%

Thanks

1) when it goes wrong, is it maximised?
2) Please try it @250% with the window smaller than the display, and drag the window edge to adjust its size slightly

Ernst, Richie--silly me, don't know how I could have missed that! Why I was looking on the AGC and Appearance pages and didn't look at the Display page I'll never know!

Realizing that this is all very experimental and whatnot, I hope the line will be changed to be more in the style of the Gain and Hang lines, and appear for modification on the Appearance > RX Display page.

Cheers!

It would probably be better termed as "AGC with automatic noise floor compensation".

This is something that is not unheard of in the art of RF receiver design, but it is definitely not something that is common outside of complex military or cellular receivers, for example.

More importantly, however, is that it is yet another singularly unique feature found only in the openHPSDR architecture, and continues to advance these radios to a place well beyond anything available from anyone else.

PureSignal linearization, look-ahead VOX, advanced voice processing, synchronous AM detection, look-ahead soft-limiting ALC, syllabic squelch, and now AGC automatic noise floor compensation. AFAIK none of these features are available in any other ham radio anywhere, and certainly not all of them.

Our radios may not be the slickest, easiest to use things, but they are certainly a technological tour de force!

Congratulations, Richie!

Richie dreams of a cool new feature for Thetis and wakes up with the code already half written in his brain, and raises the bar with a release in less than 24 hours. The "AGC/AutoNoise Compensation" feature is one of the most exciting new, innovative, visual and useful features that makes the Apache/Thetis second to none. My bet, Richie is already re-writing and echancing code to improve this cool feature. It's Chistmas weekly, and it's just like getting a whole new radio with each download. Thank You Richie! This is just pure fun.

Love the AGC giving a good indication on the noise floor and an accurate reflection on changes dependant on which way I beam. Thank you Richie for all the excellent work I am so pleased :)

Hi Richie,
Running version 21k3. For the last couple of updates Thetis doesn't remember changes to the Virtual Audio Cable Setup on the Audio tab.
What's strange is if I update the driver and have to restart Thetis in a couple of minutes the change is remembered but will not be there the next day. I think this started around version 21i. Thanks.

I take it you are saving the tx profile if you have [Restore VACn device details from TX Profile] turn on, because if you have that turned on, and change the device, then restart, it will pull up the one assigned to the profile.
_or_
Is the device name changing the next day or something like that?

So far down my list Don, it fell off the bottom. 7000 lines of code, moving labels, drawing lines and rectangles, The idea of adding the 7000/8000 does not appeal to me tbh.

Perhaps one day change it all to render from an xml definition, with all the states etc. Then someone can build the xml or tweak it as needed.

add: noise floor is now estimated in pandapter/panafall views. This can be shown as a dotted line (red) on both RX1 and RX2. Can be shown/hidden with option in Setup->Display->RX1/2

All the new features are great.
I would like to see if in display of the avg. noise floor maybe a thinner red line.
Thanks for the many hours of hard work.
You perform magic.
