"21k7
change: adjusting an RX1/2 AF slider will turn remove MUT if muted"

Richie, I request that this change be reverted, or that this functionality be made optional with a checkbox. (Where to put this checkbox? Maybe Setup > General > Options > Options-1 > Miscellaneous. Or Options-2.)

My reason for the request? Often I don't want to monitor received audio on digital modes, like FT8. But RX1 AF controls the audio volume both to my speakers, and to VAC, which is the path for receive audio to WSJT-X. I sometimes want to adjust the audio level to WSJT-X, e.g., if signal levels change. Sometimes I fine-tune this adjustment in multiple steps. I'd like speaker audio to stay muted as I home in on the right level.

Hey

It would be very good if the level of RX AF, AGC Gain was preserved not only by ranges, but also by the type of modulation.

Hi (again)

I think that it would be also usefull, if the values for the diversity functions (gain, factor and phase angle) are also saved by band ("by mode" is not necessary). Perhaps they can be saved in the database, because local noise has most the same values for gain and phase.

Thanks in advance dear Richie.

Is there any chance that an additional slider could be added to the GUI...
This slider would control the MONITOR GAIN separate from the MASTER AF.
If you happen to accidentally change the MASTER AF while transmitting, it changes the MONITOR GAIN which will probably become TOO HIGH.

It would be nice... to have a CheckBox on the main GUI to enable/disable
Setup >> Display >> General >> Panadaptor Peak Blobs >> Enabled

I'll second the motion to have this as a user setting. I see the usefulness of having mute disabled when the slider moves. But like John, I find it an annoyance when on ft8 for the same reason.

I have built a Thetis version, with the functionality. Maybe Richie can use my code for it.

Wants/wishes are creeping into this thread. Please add them to the dedicated thread (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3861)

Couple of things :

1) Peak blob quick access + other stuff quick access. Yes, when I can find some time.

2) un-mute option override has been added to 21k9 (released soon(tm))

3) option added to monitor AF so that master AF does not change it

4) @DL8LAQ this is how it should be. With CTUN off, rx + a split TX on a single RX will always be at the centre, consequently the frequency scale moves so that the centre is displaying the correct freq (in rx and tx). It was broken before, and has been for ages. CTUN will have to be used if you want to keep the freq scales.

Richie.

Hello. my search did not come up with this problem.
Running Anan 8k 21j8 P2 Dell g5 game box audio input line in the back no rack only a Xair12 pre amp.
When I changed to the default AM 10K CFC I no longer had transmit audio. recycling the software fixed the issue but changing back to my tx profile again no tx audio. the no TX audio got worse until none of the tx profile (including default) would pass any audio. also my waterfall disappeared along with the Panafall selection from the pull down menu. I had to delete and restore a database from a day before to get the audio and panafall back. I have the database files that were misbehaving if their needed. just bump my e-mail k5wid@mac.com.
Also this is the first issue I have had running Thetis in the last years or so.
And a big shout out to all of the great work all of the folks working on the software/WDSP. it is by far the best out their in ham radio today. NO ONE even come close!!!

Hey all,

For those wanting to test 21k9 pre release.

Download x64 - see later in thread for latest test
Buttons - https://bit.ly/3AVV8mQ
Video covering it - https://youtu.be/HLUdDc4phOg

I am still working on a few things that will make it to the final 21k9 in a couple of weeks which will then appear in the top post.

Cheers,

Richie.

21k9(pre)
fix: right click delete notch popup will show on top of the main window if the main window is set to always on top
fix: VFOSync will sync rx2 filter if needed when initially switched on
fix: memory entries now select tx frequency. This was not happening for FM. Also, this is made after split is recovered from a memory setting
fix: issue with multiRX at startup fixed (caused by forceaudio changes back in jul21)
fix: repeater shift MHz is limited to 0-50MHz (cat/memory/etc)
fix: mouse cursor Hz display now correct for RX1/RX2 (was not considering RX2 centre frequency or ctun state)]
fix: waterfall duration seconds display for both rx1 + rx2 now shows correct values based on frame rate and waterfall speed
fix: dBm readout for rx2 now display expected values
fix: rare display crash fix related to colour and alpha changes made via setup
fix: PS 'Correcting' should show again on main ui if PS-A is toggled and PS is in correcting state
fix: when IQ over vac is disabled and the driver is ASIO an exception was thrown. Thread.Sleep(1) to 'resolve' the issue until further investigation (Warren)
add: fill or line mode for active peak
add: option to limit CTUN drag to spectral area, for everything or just a mouse drag
add: drop speed for active peaks and peak blobs, in dBm/second
add: zoom to band. Only works if in CTUN. Note: will only zoom out if the band can not fit into the sample rate selected
add: enable/disable un-mute when rx af sliders are dragged option (new options tab in audio section)
add: option for MHz and/or seconds/dbm/filter on the mouse cursor when in spectral area. When disabled you can hold shift to show on demand
add: limit filters to sidebands option. Prevents crossing the 0 point with certain filters. (ToDo: limit filter shift to hard edge stop)
add: dragging AM/DSB/SAM/SPEC filter edge with Shift held, will match the other side
change: moved over to VS2022 as the ide
change: new wdsp release
change: PS client loops do not run if power off
change: mouse wheel adjustment on AGC sliders will disable AGC Noisefloor compensation
change: var ratio is shown even if force is enabled. You can see what is happening even if not used (reverts change made in 21k4)
change: moved DirectX over to a two buffer swapchain. UI events seem to be improved

Richie, thanks for the pre release!

I've noticed that this pre release loads slower (a few seconds) than the previous ones.

Any reason for that?

@ea3aqr Jordi, not sure what would cause that, as there are only a couple of extra settings that get stored out to the database. There are lag/delay issues when swapping tx profiles which I have on the list to investigate. I ran the profiler on this release and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

@scott not sure as it is still work in progress. Warren sent over a pre-release and it is included with this 21k9pre. It is contains some tweaks here and there. I expect a change log, version number change, documentation update will happen at some point.

Zoom to Band seems like a great idea but not sure how well it is working with K9.

@Walter,

Thanks for this. I had a sneaky feeling that some issues with the change to the swapchain may cause some issues.

After reading up on it there are some limitations on the SwapEffect based on operating systems. Win8 and lower will need special case. I will look into making a fix later today.

@Walter,

can you test this please. The zip only includes Thetis.exe replacement.

Download x64 [md5:82573E1D10D70DEE313E21D434D73A09] - test failed

- added DX feature level support from 10_0 all the way up to 12_1. Will use the highest available on the default adaptor
- swapchain flip only used when supported (win10+)

Checked out 2k9(pre):

I encountered missing sidetone a few times today when changing mode to cw, sidetone came back after 2nd ptt action.

Changing mode from ssb to cw and back takes way more time than with 21k8! Too much time!

@walter, another build to test, however, fixing this could be futile until I get win7/8 running here later this evening.

Ritchie, with k9 I have noticed an issue when running RX2 and using VFO Sync.

RX2 seems to be driving the sync for the Mode to RX1
When Sync'd you can not select a CW mode on either receiver if you are in a Voice or Digi mode.
If you are in a CW mode when Sync'd you can not select a Voice or Digi mode.

Here is a quick YouTube video to demonstrates this issue.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2GIIFrvyg0

And yes I did try a DB reset.

ok, I have tracked down the lag with mode change, and it is related to the DSP buffer sizes in WDSP (SetDSPBuffsize). Email is winging its way over to Warren.

You could try setting DSB ssb/am TX buffer size to 128 temporarily to match the hard coded CW tx buffer size. This will then bypass a buffer resize when mode is changed.
