*** update 21k9rc5b

updated to rc5b

note: foreground colour text on the infoBar (peak text colour) is not working in rc5b

Another week, another version. Please try :

Download x64 [md5:C5982452DB7E6D46FB75611ECFE86161] - https://bit.ly/3q2iLpn

Remember to backup your database.

Specific to this version :

1) you can now resize the FB/Puresignal boxes on the infoBar by dragging the vertical bar along side the FB box
2) right click one of the new quick buttons for a drop down menu. You can use the menu directly, or right click one of the buttons to replace a quick button, see vid : https://youtu.be/z0zQyRRzgHY
3) new firewall check button in the network settings - ONLY test this is you are ok at re-adding firewall rules in-case something goes wrong. Needs testing on win7/8/10 and with 3rd party firewalls.

a) all firewall rules for the running Thetis.exe are removed
b) the following rules are added : Thetis Allow IN TCP, Thetis Allow OUT TCP, Thetis Allow IN UDP, Thetis Allow OUT UDP

4) ZTB now switches CTUN on, and is available at all times
5) Ukrainian flag is always shown at startup, click to hide, possibility for it to return 1hr later, when it can be hidden again
6) Russian spots return
7) PSpeak will be saved if you adjust it, default button to reset it (linearity form)
8) changes to trx/tx_enable/rx_enable messages in TCIServer

Cheers, Richie.

The drop-down button UI is quite innovative and acts to address ever shrinking UI real-estate. However, the mixing of TX audio related controls with spectral display related controls is quite jarring and very counterintuitive. It flies in the face of UI design principles.

Blobs, Info, Spot and Peak correctly belong on spectral display related (located) buttons. CFC, CFCeq, and Lev do not. Tdrive is yet another outlier.

While it is also counter to UI design principles to obfuscate controls behind right clicks or, worse, modifier keys, please consider that it would be better to re-arrange these buttons as follows:

1. Blob, Info, Spot, Peak on a button or buttons located on the status line of the spectral display.

2. CFC, CFCeq (more properly "PostEQ"), Lev could more properly and logically become part of the existing DEXP button.

3. Tdrive could become part of the existing TUN button.

Even better, would be to simply show these buttons outright. The smallest allowable size of a Thetis window is 1018x609 pixels. This makes the smallest screen resolution allowable to be XGA, or 1024x768. Perhaps it is time to require a minimum screen resolution of WXGA, or 1280x720. This would provide ample space for a row of 4 buttons alongside MIC-to-DEXP, as well as 4 separate buttons on the spectral display status line.

I'm sure there must be some person that feels compelled to run on a 10 year old laptop with an XGA display, but even micro-laptops come with WXGA displays these days. It might be time for those folks to upgrade!

@oe3ide
Dear Ernst, I am using 21k9rc5 with your Yaesu skin, I have downloaded and applied mods for rc4, but I have a couple of issues:

Image

please note the double bezel

Image

please note a small piece of a new window under the correct one.

Have I forgotten something to put in the Yaesu skin directory?

Many thanks for attention and 73.

Richie,
Thanks so much for the updates. I have noticed that the cpu usage has dropped quite a lot from the previous updates but with rc5 I have noticed that the audio is not as stable - showing buffer overflows and underflows? Audio not totally running away but every now and then over and under flow errors where I did not see them before, there may be some setting I need to change ? I was just surprised with the audio glitch and the “total” cpu usage running at 1 to 3 %. Everything else is great.

System:
5950x
Windows 11
Latest thetis build rc5

Thanks,
Joe

@Joe + Al

Sadly, it can not be explained as there are no changes in rc5 that touch anything to do with audio subsystems or networking. Perhaps it is a windows update, perhaps it is the alignment of the planets, I am at a loss to explain it. The grids from rc4 that show under the VAC's are only shown when an underflow/overflow value changes, they are as simple as that, hooking into the code that already queries vac for the u/o flow numbers.

RC5 running fine here. No problems with VAC or network.

I also like the new buttons in the wf-statusbar, very handy.

VAC audio A-OK here with RC5. Very few under/overflows with port/ring buffers set to zero and ASIO driver.

any idea which version of thetis this is Stan? The official release from 2020?

also, did you name the txprofile something like Stan's Profile ? apostrophe s ? If so, you might have uncovered a bug that has been there for ages.

If you are unable to do it Stan, send me your database.xml file and I will repair it

it is located either in

C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis
or
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis-x64

depending if you are using the 32 or 64 bit version. My email is over on qrz if you need it.

Wow Richie, you are like a magician, quite amazing hihi.
You have instilled an amazing amount of fear in me watching this. I am not sure I can navigate that. :-)

Is it possible to have you use Teamviewer on my computer and do this for me? It would be greatly appreciated if possible. I would be happy to donate something to any group you have in mind for your time. Please let me know...

Thanks again...

Tool to remove apostrophes from database.xml TX profile name fields. It will also append _# on the end of the tx profile name if it it changes any. You can then use thetis to resave them (without an apostrophe) and delete the ones with _# on the end.

Download the zip, expand anywhere, and run the exe.

This issue has been resolved for rc6 which will arrive weekend 19th.
