Transmit profiles & PA settings

Postby ea3aqr » Mon Apr 05, 2021 9:18 am

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a new transmit profile for my solid state amplifier whose max drive power is 20W.

IF I adjust my PA settings for 20W output power at 100% drive (that's what I need to not overdrive my amp) when I save the new transmit profile all of my old profiles are also limited to 20W max output.

What I'm doing wrong?. Is or not not possible to have several transmit profiles with differents PA settings each?

Thanks!

You can't do it the way you tried. PA calibration is a one time calibration that impacts all operation including profiles. If you set 20w to be 100% on a given band, you won't be able to go over 20w on that band, in any mode or using any profile. That feature is intended mainly for PA/transmit chain calibration.

Thanks Doug, it is a pitty...

Will be nice if developers could link PA settings to each transmit profile in a next Thetis release.

I think it is very interesting feature!

I am not sure if I would do that, but I would like for sure a max TX power setting per band in each profile, just in case you make a mistake with the amp.

The DDUtil "autodrive" feature can be very handy for this sort of thing. You may wish to take a look at that. If you are not familiar, DDUtil is a "helper" program that has all kinds of useful talents. See here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3040

Hi Scott

DDUtil last version is for use with Flex Radios and the last versions only work with the signature series (6xxx).
To enjoy DDUtil with Flex legacy or Anan radios with Power SDR or Thetis you must install a version prior to version 3.2.5.xx. (DDUtil_V3)
This drive control may be set by band and is very convenient to avoid the use of ALC which produces distorsion.

Phil,

You just repeated my previous post but used different words. That feature is called "autodrive", as I note above. Also, if you read my post, you will find that 3.2.6.22 is the latest version I can get to work.

Scott
