How to update band name in VFO display?

Postby KW7F » Thu Mar 18, 2021 11:52 pm

When tuned to 14.074 for FT8 the VFO A display shows 20M RTTY. How can I change this to 20M FT8? Similar problem exists for some of the other bands.

Thanks.

Haven't found a edit option in Thetis but these settings are in the "database.xml" Search for <BandText>
Don't have to tell anyone to be very careful with this file, better not edit if you're not sure what you are doing and make a backup.

As Leon says, the band labels are located in the database.xml file. There are a different set for each region. You'd have to find the definitions for the region you are set to and modify them. It's not terribly difficult. But if you ever have to reset your database you will have to go in and manually re-edit the new database again.

Once I have mine set I just keep the modified band info in a text file that I can simply cut and paste if I ever have to reset the DB.

Yep, just as Gary said, export a copy of your database save it as a backup in case you mess something up. Open your database.xml with notepad. Edit the entries in the Bandtext section as you wish and save it. Then copy and paste the entire Bandtext section of your database into a separate text file and archive it so you can simply paste it into a new database if you ever need it. Works like a champ.
