Thetis - Band Stack Editing

Postby KA5KKT » Thu Feb 04, 2021 4:42 am

"Wheel Click to Delete a Bandstack Entry."

I'd like to edit the band stack memories. However I don't have a 'Wheel Click' feature. ...suggestions other than a different mouse..?

No suggestions for you...other than a different mouse :D

Actually, you might really like a different mouse. The Logitech mice with their "Hyperscroll" smooth scrolling feature make tuning in Thetis a real pleasure. With the wheel in its inertial hyperscroll mode is it very much like using a weighted tuning knob. And it has wheel click, too, of course.

I recommend the M705. It is not the fanciest mouse, but it is wireless, inexpensive, and a set of batteries lasts well over a year with heavy use.

My Logitech MX Anywhere 2S looks near idential to that. The major advangates are that it will work with up to 3 computers and it is rechargeable. Why it doesn't 'wheel click' is a mystery to me.

I suppose I'll dig into my 25 years worth of old mice and see what I can find. Hopefully a wireless that I can stick in a nearby drawer and use only as needed.

I found my previous mouse. That mouse is an M705. Appears the batteries in it are still good. Now, if I can find the proper dongle for it...or use the Logitech Unifying Software to connect it...

By the way, the Anywhere mouse is more diminutieve and lightweight. More comfortable and the additional features...but no Wheel Click. :(

Yes...it took with the unifying software. It works with deleting Bandstack Entries. :) I'll keep it handy.

Your MX Anywhere should have wheel click. And it also has Hyperscroll. Have you loaded the Logitech control software? Using that you should be able to define if the wheel click is for "center" click (which is what you want), or to switch in and out of "precise" mode.

The mice use different control software. Logitech Options vs. Logitech Setpoint. Options graphically highlights the programmable features of the Anywhere mouse. It does not include 'wheel click.'

Alternatively there might be an opportuninty to program another button specifically for Thetis if there is a 'keystroke' equivalent for wheel click.

The M705 was useful for deleting memorized frequencies. At the same time, it seemed to suffer from something akin to keybounce, or activation on release. It wasn't running under Setpoint at the time I worked with the Bandstack Memorites. Perhaps wear and tear on the contacts, mechanics, etc. is the reason I moved on from it to the Anywhere.

I looked at the documentation for Logitech Options. You can program the button below the mouse wheel as the middle click button.

Right you are, Scott. I hadn't explored programming that button too deeply. I has assumed it would need a Keyboard Equivalent. However, there is 'Center Click' which seems to be the equivalent of 'Wheel Click.'

Thanks, Scott.

Thanks

Tom - In the VFO pane is an area, "BandStack." Below that title are two squares (black?) with numbers. Clicking on those squares will open the band stack memories.

To make things easy you can use K9DUR's "BandText Table Editor"

https://k9dur.us/powersdr_utilities.php
(new link)

Works with Thetis Database.xml too.
