Thetis Lockup

Postby N8ME » Sat Dec 05, 2020 4:06 am

I haven't used my 7000 DLE (original blue case) for a few months. Today I downloaded Thetis 2.6.9 and Orion MK II Protocol 2 2.0b from the Apache Labs website. it was working well, then I starting fiddling with the settings and did something to where the radio plays for just a few seconds and locks up. I'm using VAC and the spectrum display freezes and the audio goes quiet. I'm using VAC and when it locks up, the TO VAC underflows are going up rapidly and the From VAC overflows are going up. Fiddling with settings or turning the software on and off, I could get the radio to play for a few more seconds. I reset the database and now the radio seems to be playing fine. It seems that there may be settings that are problematic. Are there any setting that I should avoid?

There were several improvements above 2.6.9 in the many 2.7.0's versions that addressed many issues, and now 2.8.11 is the culmination of all those updates and fixes, maybe try that to see how it works for you.

Thanks, I installed the 64 bit version of Thetis 2.8.11. It's working, but I've lost the waterfall. Whenever I select the Waterfall or Panafall displays, the waterfall portion of the screen is a gradiated blue.

Also, every once in a while, there's an audio hiccup and something read flashes in the status bar, but it's too brief for me to see. I check the SEQ log and see some entries, none with a negative VE value. The Status bar warning on -VE only is checked. Here's the most recent entry, just made after I heard an audio gap:

There are long list of topics already on this so don't want to reinvent the wheel.

But a few quick things to configure:

Setup > Display Do you have DirectX selected and VSync selected under the Driver Engine section.

Thanks, that helps. What topic should I search to find those other threads?

Mark,

I am willing to bet this is not a Thetis problem and that you have a version of P2 firmware installed that simply won't run (make timing closure) properly on your particular serial number. The problems you are experiencing are associated with receiving bad data from the firmware/hardware.

Start trying other versions of the P2 firmware that are available here:

Bootloader is the best way to load these.
