Hi,
Thanks so much for the update - Thetis 2.8.89 is working well on my 64 bit Win10 box!

When attempting to install, my installer hangs at "removing shortcuts". Similar issue occurs when attempt to uninstall Thetis using the windows app. End up having to uninstall the old Thetis version with Iobit uninstaller, then the install works fine.

Any idea why this might be happening?

Many thanks,
T.

Hi many thanks to W5WC for the latest updates and Scott for your endless support!!
I have one question, is there any chance this old issue with the Behringer X-Touch-One will/can be solved?

Thanks to the 2.8.9 update, Thetis x64 now works on my i7CPU 860 2.8GHz.
As a side note, the Default low cut filter set, once updated to a new value (i.e 250), does not seems to effect the front panel filter settings, these remain to the initial 100Hz default
Thanks and 73, Clay

2.8.9 VFO A lock is busted. Clicking other bands causes the VFO A to toggle modes. Is anybody else seeing this?

I am seeing an anomaly too. With VFO Locked and then you hit band buttons Thetis will "partially" change bands e.g. modes, pan zoom, bandwidth, CTUN, etc BUT the VFO display stays locked to the freq it was on when it locked.

The janky VFO lock behavior was in 2.7.0 as well. When you change bands with the lock ON the software does funky things. What it does depends on whether you have CTUN enabled or not. Either way it doesn't behave well. Bottom line: it should not allow you to change bands with the lock is on.

So it's not totally broken, it does prevent accidental VFO changes via the mouse, MIDI, keyboard or other mechanisms, but it does not lock out the band buttons.

AFAIK, the situation remains unchanged: nobody is working on any new MIDI functionality at this time.

Pete,

You do not have to uninstall it. However, you may wish to make a back-up copy of your database (Setup > Export Database) just in case something weird happens and you need to revert.

Hi all,

2.8.9/64 seems to work great. Thanks to all developers for yielding such a great
software.
During install I noticed a delay during the "removing shortcuts" message but after some time
install resumed and everything went OK. Refrain from interrupting the process...

By the way I got my Hercules DJControl Starlight; It does'nt work. Before I mess around with
a midi translator I have too much other things to complete.

Thanks for the reply Scott. I had exactly the same issue with Spark SDR but i could solve that myself.
In Spark, users can adjust "Scale", "Offset" and "INC" (on/off). FWIW, these are those settings for the Behringer X-Touch-One
(left and right turn of the wheel works very fine with this Offset of -33)

VFO Control: 12376
Offset: - 33
INC: ON

SCALE - OFFSET - VFO step size
312500 -33 10 Mhz
31250 -33 1 Mhz
15625 -33 500 Khz
7812,5 -33 250 Khz
3125 -33 100 Khz
1562,5 -33 50 Khz
781,25 -33 25 Khz
312,5 -33 10 Khz
156,25 -33 5 Khz
31,25 -33 1 Khz
15,625 -33 500 Hz
3,125 -33 100 Hz
1,5625 -33 50 Hz
0,3125 -33 10 Hz
0,03125 -33 1 Hz

To all responsible for this latest update, and removing the AVX requirement, THANK YOU!! The 64 bit installation, on my computer using an Intel 870 i7 (obviously an older cpu), went smoothly, quickly, and without hitch. I've not had a chance to "wring it out" but in checking a couple things previous issues (for example, the OCC set up) were not there for this latest iteration. The OCC table I had input from my previous set up carried through without issue.

Again, without using it heavily yet, the cpu usage appears to be less and the whole software seems more responsive.

Thank you all for the, I'm sure, hard and involved work in updating this software for all of us to use and benefit from.

Not sure if this is new on this recent release, but had clicked "x" to close the app and it just waited there.... until I realized I had the amp view window open and when I closed that window then the rest of the app closed. Again, not sure if this is new or always been the case, but I had not run into this before....

Also, let me know if there is a better thread/place on where to report these types of issues....

Thetis v2.8.9 x64 on ANAN 10 P1 potential issues

by I4LEC
#1 Default low cut filter set, once updated to a new value (i.e 250), does not seems to effect the front panel filter settings, these remain to the initial 100Hz default

#2 Once on collapsed view, with top, band and mode display controls ticked, at Thetis reopening, the bands do not show up on the console, deselect and reselect the band control or change to expand and then back to collapse fix it.

#3 PS-A selected does not hold up on Thetis reopening (dB not storing it?)

#4 At every Thetis restart, followed by a radio power off, no signal until change the antenna 1 to 2 and then back to 1 (where the antenna is connected), changing to a different band and go back to the previous one does the job as well

#5 Audio pan slider when to the right actually mute the right speaker and enable the left one and vice versa, no changes made to the hardware wiring, powerSDR mrx works as expected.

Opposite to PSDRmrx, diversity window is not enable, understood ANAN 10 has only one ADC, and therefore not strictly useful, still won’t harm either, as normally used by me as a sort of variable attenuator that effect the meter reading.

Thanks and 73, Clay

DX Spotter is also working for me in 2.8.9 x86 and x64 version.

Just out of curiosity. Is there a reason why the ADC setup pane is shown, even if Hermes (Anan 10 / 100, also only one ADC) is selected?

You did remember to put your callsign in the call sign box in the very bottom right corner of the spotting control panel?

This is a known issue, it affects everyone.

#2 Once on collapsed view, with top, band and mode display controls ticked, at Thetis reopening, the bands do not show up on the console, deselect and reselect the band control or change to expand and then back to collapse fix it.
This is actually a carry-over bug from 2.7.0, it affects everyone.

#3 PS-A selected does not hold up on Thetis reopening (dB not storing it?)
Not a bug, the state of PS-A is stored in your transmit profiles.

#4 At every Thetis restart, followed by a radio power off, no signal until change the antenna 1 to 2 and then back to 1 (where the antenna is connected), changing to a different band and go back to the previous one does the job as well
Someone with an ANAN-10 will have to confirm this behavior. You did select ANAN-10 for your hardware type, correct?

Use your attenuator. ;) You can put it in step attenuator mode for greater precision (everyone should do that IMHO).

The issue with the band buttons in collapsed view is I think older than 2.7.0 or even 2.6.9. It's caused because there are 3 panels of buttons, and the code tracks them by looking at which panel is visible. On a cold start of Thetis, none of them are yet visible to it doesn't show any of them. A simple fix would probably be "if none visible, show the HF buttons".

Just installed this on my W10 x64 machine. Installation went well. However, when I fired it up, I find that the waterfall part of the display is blank - just background with no waterfall displayed. Also, the panadapter portion of the display is compressed to the upper 1/5 of the display area. Any pointers on how to fix this? I looked at the various setup menus but could not find what I needed.

I have used an ANAN-100D [blue front] Protocol 1 FW, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit I7 PC, GB ethernet, and PowerSDR (32 bit) for a long time.

This is my first experience with Thetis. I am running Thetis v2.8.9 (64 bit). I see some good and bad(bugs?).

- It is great to finally see some new software for my ANAN and in 64 bit mode too.

- It is great not having to switch to Administrator mode to run the ANAN software.

- I see there are some new features I need to try like the DX Spotting that KE9NS had for my old Flex.

- More settings like the PS-A, COMP, and MIC buttons are now saved in TX Profiles.

* "Auto Enable for Digital Modes" on the VAC1 Audio Setup Menu does not work in Thetis but is fine in PowerSDR.

* Audio Levels with VAC1 are way off compared to Power SDR. First, the levels were set correctly using WSJT and PowerSDR. With Thetis v2.8.9 the audio level into WSJT was 10 dB greater and the audio level out of WSJT had to be reduced an additional 14 dB to keep the TX at the same power level. Something seems wrong here. I am using VAC 4.64 (the latest).

- TIP: If you have troubles setting digital audio levels, I suggest the following YouTube video done for the IC-9700.
The tips on setting levels and applying labels in the Windows Sound Control Panel are excellent.

RE:Thetis v2.8.9 x64 on ANAN 10 P1 potential issues

I do confirm ANAN 10 selection

Acknowledged #1 and # as already known issues

#3 after importing the TX profile used on PSDRmrx, did not perform any save, everything fine now, that has solved #4 as well.

#5 seems the only pending, re-checked with different headphones and with PSDRmrx, the latter and Thetis have definitively opposite behavior.

p.s. DX spotter works fine with me

Your problem is not Thetis. Both PowerSDR and Thetis have always worked perfectly in terms of input and output audio scaling. In fact this is true of most app's and even the Windows sound system itself. This is not to say that there aren't many places in the Windows sound system that can trip you up and cause levels to change when you don't want them to. But the OS and all of the app's do set the same standard for maximum level, which is referred to as either "100%" or "0dB".

One way to prove that it is not Thetis is to do the following:

- Install the free Orban Loudness Meter app.
- Connect the Orban app to Thetis using your favorite virtual cable software.
- Ensure that VAC RX gain is 0dB.
- Turn on MON.
- Assert TUN.

The resulting tone should show a level of -1dB (peak, PPM and VU) in Orban.

If it does not show -1dB, then there is a problem in your virtual cable or in Windows. In particular, check the Windows Sound control panel (new one), all the way at the bottom, under Advanced Sound Options. Check also the old Windows Sound control panel and the levels set for your virtual cable devices.

Once you've eliminated the virtual cable and/or Windows, then you need to take a look at your receiver setup. Are you using DIGU? Is RX1 AF set properly (IMHO it should be set to 100)? Where is your AGC Gain set to?

Similarly, if you set VAX TX gain to 0dB, select DIGU mode, set any of the common app's like Fldigi or WSJT-X to 0dB (maximum) output, then use their "tune" or "test" function, you should see 0dB on the Mic meter in Thetis. If you don't, then there is some problem in your virtual cable or in Windows.
