in that case it is also happening when shutting it down, as part of Console_Closing, where AndromedaCATEnabled is set to false.

Can you try this build Frank? and screen shot the andromeda errors?

Things I noticed in a2.
Some settings are not remembered.
With a clean database Thetis comes up with TX FL enabled. After disabling TX FL and closing Thetis, it is starting again with TX FL enabled.
Also VAC1/2, MICd, DEXP and others did not remember their last state.
Maybe it is only me

Just a quick check, are you replacing all the files from the zip file?

All those settings are stored PER TX profile. If you want them stored, save the TX profile.

This comes up again and again, and makes me think the whole profile storing and selecting system needs an overhaul. There are options to always save TX profiles, and to auto save on exit.

Hi Frank, can you attach your database.xml to a message. Located in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis

Don't use the export function, but attach the actual database.xml file from the folder above.

Cheers.

Frank

I think that error message with the stack trace gives us a clue as to what's happening. I've contacted Doug for advice on what could be happening.

If you click OK can you get past it, or does THETIS exit?

Some info regarding this error :

and_error.png
and_error.png (9.85 KiB) Viewed 17194 times

After some extensive testing and investigation, I can only assume the people that are seeing the Andromeda error are doing so because they are using the incorrect version of ChannelMaster.dll along side their Thetis exe.

ChannelMaster.dll includes a new call ATU_Tune. If that is not found in the dll then an error will occur during the andromeda enable/disable code and result in message you are seeing. It is impossible to see it any other way, especially after looking at the database.xml file provided.

I have checked the a2 zip file, and all correct files are there. If you are using these test versions, please make sure you follow the info in post number 1, especially the bold text.

There is nothing more I/we can do with this error as all looks ok in the code, and the only way I can get it to present itself is to use the wrong version of the dll.

Going forward, there is a case for including a version number in all the external components (dlls etc), that will get reported during an error/exception.

Check that Setup->Options->Options1->Keyboard enable shortcuts is ticked on, and you have the PTT/MOX selected in Keyboard->SpaceBar Control.

When reporting issues, please include steps taken to resolve the issue.

All works fine here. Perhaps backup your settings (take screen shots etc), and un-install/re-install back to 2.6.9 get everything working as expected, and go from there.

It seems that lately there has been a rash of unlikely and bizarre problem reports. I hesitate to call them bug reports, because they are not proving to be bugs.

I wonder if part of the problem is that some of the W5WC branch of 2.7.0 has made it out into wider distribution? Some people were compiling that branch, perhaps the results of that are being emailed around. If you started with that branch it may not be fully compatible with Richie's updates.

For those that are experiencing problems that most are not, consider the provenance of your software: did you start with the officially released (TAPR Github) version of 2.6.9? If not, then start over with that and apply the patches Richie posts here.

Also, checking how a reset database works is always a good first step.

Thetis 2.7.0 a2 running on a 7000dle
Selected region: Spain and "extended" option checked.

60m band selection doesn't work, it always lights the 80m button instead of the 60's one. It also doesn't save changes or settings on 60m band.

Uninstalled Thetis and deleted instalation and user directories, Installed 2.7.0 from scratch and same issue
Could you please check it?

Since 2.7.0 my RX2 receive filters do not keep the labels I gave them (I modify the filters to what I want with names I like). They default to the default names but if I toggle the RX2 mode from say LSB to USB and back, then my assigned names get repopulated.

works fine here. Remember filters and names are assigned per mode, each filter in each mode will have its own label. If still an issue, store your settings, uninstall, get 2.6.9 working as expected with new database, and test labels under 2.6.9. If ok, update to 2.7.0.

Something I did find was that they were not getting displayed if RX2 is visible on startup. However, they would show if RX2 mode was changed.

I tried it with 2.6.9 (using a saved DB) and all is fine, then I re-upgraded to 2.7.0 and it happens, short video here:

So in your video, LSB and USB should be showing 5000, 4400, 3800 etc.? and not the initial values 5.0k, 4.4k, 3.8k etc?

This is the thing I found where the filter labels are not initialised correctly, however switching usb/lsb displays them as expected? Or are you expecting something different. You will perhaps need to explain what is happen vs what you expect.

Hi Richie,

I have V2.7.0.a2 loaded now but can't enable it yet due to still P1 firmware on my 7000DLE MkII.

But I see another freq digit on the pan is needed @ 48 ksps and max zoom - see screenshot below.

Either add a freq digit or eliminate the x.xxx x5 - ie 50 Hz freq numbers.

I looked in setup but did not find a place to add a digit.

Postby n2pk » Fri Mar 20, 2020 9:35 am

Hi Richie,

Let me elaborate on what I'm after here as a display option for ZOOMimg.

The pix below is a typical screenshot after ZOOMing in with a single CWU passband available for
display on the pan - ie MultiRX is disabled. The passband is 400 Hz wide and the pitch is 600 Hz. The
sample rate is 48 kbps.

The 1824.4 kHz injection freq is the blue vertical line ans is centered on the pan after the ZOOM. The
400 Hz passband here is centered on the VFO A 1825.0 freq and ranges from 1824.8 to 1825.2 kHz.

My problem here is that for CW, or any other mode for that matter, I NEVER care about the injection
freq. I generally ONLY want to see what's going on in the passband. While this can still be seen here,
zooming all the way takes part/all of the passband off screen. While the PAN control can be used to bring
the passband entirely back on screen, that seems to be a perhaps easily avoidable nuisance.

While one might be first inclined to suggest using VFO A as the freq to center the pan on instead of
the injection freq, that is not without pitfalls.

First VFO A for modes like USB, LSB, DIGL, and DIGU is also the injection freq and the passband is never
centered on this freq.

Even for CW, VFO A is not always the desired freq for passband centering as "Var 1" or Var 2" can be used
to make the passband center different from VFO A.

So something a bit more complex is required but I suspect it turns out to be very simple.

If we denote the passband freq boundaries, as displayed in the screenshots below, by FL and FH,
then (FL+FH)/2 ALWAYS represents the center of the passband being used at any given time for ANY
given mode.

I am guessing that you always have easy access to the values for FL and FH in programming the Thetis UI .
After all, you need them to display the passband boundaries.on the pan. So the calculation of the passband
center freq would seem to be a simple matter.

Is that all correct?

Assuming so for now, I am proposing that you consider providing a Thetis setup option
that allows the user to select either the current injection freq or the passband center
for use in pan/panafall display centering after a zoom in ANY mode.

Your thoughts?

Many thanks and stay well!
