+ or - 600 hz clicking on a spot

Postby Iz4juk » Thu Feb 27, 2020 8:40 pm

Hi all,

I'm using the thetis v2.6.9 with my Anan 100D (Angelia v11,7, the only one working), and I'm facing a problem with both my logging programs (Log4Om for the everyday use and QarTest for contests)

With Log4Om when I click on a spot ON THE SAME MODE of the VFO, it moves correctly.
When I click on a spot ON A DIFFERENT MODE, the VFO moves with a shift of +600 Hz or -600 Hz, depending on the mode.

I'm not able to find any check on the menu which could regard this issue! Any advise?

Using the QARTEST logging program, the situation is even worts.
Some examples:

spot on 7075.1, the VFO goes to 7.060,7 (shift 0,0144 Mhz)
spot on 1.819,5, the VFO goes on 1.803,9 (shift 0,0156 Mhz)
spot on 14.023,0, the VFO goes on 14.008,0 (shift 0,0150 Mhz)

Any suggestion?
Thanks

I assume your rig is changing mode between USB and CW?

Yes right...

it changes the mode, but the frequency shows a shift...
i just resetted the database, and it still does it

The 600Hz offset is correct as the spot in Log4OM is the transmit frequency...not the sidetone.

You will see the frequency drop 600Hz when switching from USB to CW so you hear the CW tone at 600Hz. You'll find the CW Pitch in the DSP/CW tab.

Hi Mike
No, the station is not there.

Clicking one more time on the spot, the vfo goes exactly on the spot frequency (not + or - 600 hz differently from the spot frequency) and now I listen the station.

Or am I wrong in something?
I used this system for ages and never had this problem...

I'll try and duplicate this....it sounds like Thetis is doing freq, then mode, which will it 600Hz too low and the 2nd spot resets the frequency.

This should only happen when switching between USB and CW.

It should be doing mode, then frequency. I don't see an option for that.

Hi Mike,

unfortunately not.
With Log4Om:

when the VFO is in CW and I click on a spot on SSB, the VFO goes on the spot frequency with a shift of +600 Hz
when the VFO is in SSB and I click on a spot on CW, the VFO goes on the spot frequency with a shift of -600 hz

Try setting the CW pitch to zero in Thetis. Setup/DSP/CW

Hi Mike,

yes, that's right!
The minimum picth settable value is 200 (not 0).

Setting the pitch to 200 (in SETUP/DSP/CW), now the shift is 200 hz.

what should I do to avoid it?
Thanks

In the CAT control in Log4OM you'll find a checkbox that says "Send Freq before Mode" -- toggle it
I'm guessing you have that checked right now?

Hi Mike,
I thank you for your support.

But I really can't find this setting in the CAT setup of LOG4OM. Here the screenshot of the CAT settings:

I use OmniRig for the cat with log4om...

Can yu drive me in finding this setting please?

Looks like they took it out of V2 (or rather haven't put it in yet).
Better ask them on the Log4OM forum about it.

Spoke with the Log4OM support, they added the checkbox you were mentioning in the latest log4om version (today!). I clicked it, now everything works well.
thank you for your support!
