Fun With The Greyline/Spotting Map

Postby W3MMR » Mon Nov 18, 2019 12:14 pm

Ok, so a few of us have been playing around with the Greyline Map under the Spotting tab. However, for some of us who have "Greyline Tracking" and "SunTracking" selected, the Sun and Greyline will move across the map accordingly, but for some of us, me included, it doesnt without shutting the map off and reopening it. But as im typing this, we found out to have it update automatically and move as time goes on, you must have the spotting tab opened and minimized. Now, another question. When you have "Map Country" selected, does that mean theyre supposed to show on the actual country, on the map like the beacon's do? If so, it doesnt here. And does having "Map Calls" selected, just show where they are on the band, IE, what frequency they are on or are they supposed to show up on the map, where they are actually located in the world? The wording is messing me up lol. Anyway, I hope you guys were able to understand what Im trying to get across. Sorry for any confusion.

Perry,

Where do you see a map? I have grayline active in the spotting menu and spots are posting fine. I did find this comment from Richie but don't see a way to activate a grayline map.

"Hi Tony,

working here, but there could be bug/issues

Couple of things to check....

- make sure Disable picDisplay is unchecked
- make sure you dont have too much alpha set on Grey Line Colour (in Appearance-RX Display)
- Track ON is shown on the button in the spot window
- grey line track checked in spot window

Richie."

Thanks, Perry. I had the alpha setting way too high.

This greyline feature that is superimposed on the GUI is great! When I switch on this feature the skin changes to a "default," I presume. Now, how do I get the greyline to float on top of the skin that I am using?

there are some fixes for the image going missing in pre-release-6, released at some point. Yes you need to keep the form open/minimised for it update the sun/greyline. Just how it has been implemented. No plans to fix that though.

There is no notion of 'floating' on top in a semi transparent way to maintain skin background. I have no plans to maintain/work on the spot/cluster code.
