Thetis 2.6.7 Fatal Error at startup if certain Bypass options are enabled

I have noticed two behaviors with Thetis 2.6.7 that were unexpected while using my 200D (firmware v1.8):

1. If the Alex checkbox is unchecked in the H/W Select menu tab two things will happen: RX-1 will no longer be connected to the ANT port so nothing will be received and the 200D will no longer produce RF output through the PA. Instead of bypassing the Alex HPF it appears that unchecking the box completely disconnects the Orion from the PA board.

2. If the Alex checkbox is left checked, which is the default setting, and the HPF/LPF menu form is set to bypass the HPF on TX and the band-by-band bypasses are also checked, as seen in the screenshot below, Thetis will throw a Fatal Error the next time it is started.

Just passing this along as an observation I discovered while attempting to run my 200D without Alex enabled as PS behaves a little better for me that way due to slightly less internal crosstalk. I do not know if other 200D users will see the same behavior or if it affects other models as well.

I was able to run a few more tests this morning and narrowed down the two settings on the HPF/LPF menu that trigger a fatal error if enabled. Thetis will produce a Fatal Error the next time it is started if these are checked:

6m/Bypass on RX
6m BPF/LNA

Looks like the those toggles might still be using an old format for the on/off states.

A fatal error at next start-up was NOT produced if the following were checked:

The 5 band-by-band bypasses for HF
HPF Bypass on TX
Bypass/55 MHz HPF

Thetis 2.6.7 .
Same Fatal Error on my 100D. SDR Project.

Hi Rob,

same fatal error on my 200D/FW 1.8/Thetis 2.6.7

Needs a restart after deleting the worn databases in User/AppData/Roaming/OpenHPSDR/Thetis/ plus DB_Archive.

Thanks for confirming that Phil.

I've sort of given up on Protocol 2 for now, although I have found with my 200D that firmware version 1.7 works much better than v1.8 for me. The timing closure must be much closer to optimal for my FPGA as I get Pure Signal correction as soon as I start up (v1.8 would not correct 160m through 6m until the 200D warmed up for about 15 minutes) and correction seems to continue fine for the whole day, although on 6 meters Ampview looks a little shaky. Of course v1.7 is the firmware version with the 20dB MIC gain stuck in the ON state, so someone who uses the MIC IN port or the LINE IN port probably cannot use it, but since I use VAC for my TX audio it does not cause me any problems.

The only issue I currently have with protocol 2 is that Thetis will randomly not start up fully and it will stubbornly behave as if RX1 and RX2 are not connected to their assigned ADC. I can transmit fine and toggle everything in the settings of Thetis and hear relays responding, but it will not receive. If I shut down Thetis and start up SDR-Console V3 it comes up fine and is fully functional with TX and RX. If I go back to Thetis in the same session it will still not receive, so that is a strange one. Sometimes doing a Repair of Thetis will allow it to start up and if that doesn't work sometimes re-flashing the firmware will allow it to start up. Curiously, resetting the database has no effect on the issue and it does not resolve it. Getting it to start up again is kind of a random runaround so it's a toss up as to whether it is a Thetis problem or a fimrware problem. I plan to try firmware v1.7 with an earlier version of Thetis to see if the random startup issue is a 2.6.7 behavior since it does look like there are some issues in the ANT routing matrix that are causing the Fatal Error issue that might possibly also be causing the random startup issue for me.

I've gone back to protocol 1 with OpenHPSDR mRX PS simply because it works perfectly and is 100% reliable for me.

Hi Rob,

I use Thetis exclusively since FW 1.8 has been released with absolutely no trouble. I just tried the filter settings you mentioned
to confirm the startup issue.
For the rest I have nothing to complain (I mainly do low to medium power FT8 trafic and very few phone SSB contacts); I have no problem with Pure signal either. This late FW 1.8 release is the first which made Thetis work on my 200 D & system.

I have noticed very few minor problems like no transverter setting saved in database or sometimes band keyboard stuck on SWL bands.

May be there are other issues which did'nt show up on my system as I spend most of my time in setting up an EME station on 10 GHz. The latter takes most my time & funds. Hi Hi.
