Richie, obviously you don't release news for Thetis when you make Sun SDR movies instead
Just kidding, keep up your great job you do
Sorry, but just had to write this jokingly when sitting as a child on Christmas Eve and waiting for a package delivery on news for Thetis
You are the man regardless!

The Network Watchdog won't kick it back into gear, Scott?
Not for me it won't.

Yes, very little motivation at the moment to be honest. I guess it is the virus, being locked in, caring for high risk parent etc. Like so many. Still working on the multimeter stuff, but done when its done I guess. Perhaps this week, depends if I get the motivation back.
Will be camping in the garden tonight, so perhaps that'll re-energise the battery.

Re: 2.7.0
Hello all,
I hope everyone is in good health.
Is the AGC gain level saved by band?
It seems that if you have it set to a specific level on a band and you stroll through the bands, it doesn't always go back to the level you had it set to for that band.
Any news on the band stack not being locked issue?
Thanks and be safe.

Re: 2.7.0
For me, the AGC always changes to "Fixd" on the band that was last used before Thetis is turned off, even if it was set to "Med" before turning off.
If e.g. 80m band is selected and closing Thetis, the next time Thetis is started, the AGC on 80m band is set to "Fixd".
This applies to all bands, also SWL.
Also tried a clean database, but that's a matter of course anyway.
Has anyone made similar observations?

I own a 100D and select this in "General - H/W Select".
In "General - Ant/Filters - HPF/LPF" the HPF section is missing.
Workaround: I select 200D in "General - H/W Select".

Re: 2.7.0
Communication between the PC and the radio hardware for sample data is done with UDP. UDP is not a lossless protocol like TCP/IP. Few few people, if any, have perfectly clear logs. As long as you are not getting a lot of log entries or, worse, log entries that correlate to audible artifacts in your receive audio, then the occasional log entry is nothing to be concerned about, not something that can be debugged, and not something that can be fixed.

Re: 2.7.0
Is there a way to disable the neg seq error warning icon or could it be implemented in the future? I get occasional negative errors when running puresignal but haven't noticed any performance issues.
Re: 2.7.0
Hello,
Got my new Anan 7000 (no internal pc) 2 weeks ago. All seemed to work well with V2.6.9. Now I have up graded to Thetis V2.7.0 (3/1/20) MW0LGE (a3) and have noticed a few things---
First the PC is a new Dell
i5-9400 CPU @ 2.9GHz
16.0 GB (15.8 GB free)
Both PC and radio are hooked to router via ether net cables
This PC is only used for the rig at this time--(no other software installed or running , however I do see that Microsoft Edge is the default search engine.
CPU use hangs around 8-12% according to Thetis
1)----Over the last couple days I have noticed the radio will freeze about every hour (need to hit the power button to restart)
2)----Also during a QSO, my transmitted audio will drop out repeatedly over the course of my transmission. (listen to attached audio)
3)----During my qso this morning (after unkeying the radio) all the signals where garbled. Looking at the screen I noticed that they appeared to
be on USB-- sure enough I switched to USB and there they were. Switched off the power and back on and signals all went back to LSB.
Attached are snips of my configuration and the audio drop outs.
Any help would be appreciated!

Larry

For starters change the display from GDI to DirectX
And change your sample rate to 48KHz
See if that makes it behave better.

Re: 2.7.0
That was a big one Mike noted about switching off the GDI to DirectX, that makes a big improvement.
Another suggestion is under Settings > General > H/W Select and uncheck Network Watchdog if it is turned on.

Re: 2.7.0
Gary,
Network Watchdog was checked! Will uncheck and let it run for a couple hours to see what happens.
FYI- I only tested the transmit for a short time after making the changes per Mark's post. No transmit dropouts where noted at that time BUT the screen/radio still freezes after about 1 hour. Maybe this change suggested by you Gary will eliminate it--- Will see---

Larry,
Ive had that USB thing happen before. Thats weird. Im using 2.7.0a3. I dont recall it happening during this version, and it hasnt happened in a while. But when it did, it was a head scratcher.

Re: 2.7.0
I also have the periodic disconnects from the radio. I think there is something wrong in the network code somewhere, most likely on the firmware side, probably not anything associated with Thetis.
Have you increased your sample rate back to where it was yet?

The radio has only froze one (1) time in the last 4 hours--- This is the longest it has gone yet.
Sample rate still set to 48K
In the morning will be able to chat with the guys so that will let me know about the transmit audio cutting out.

LarryW...
If you are using a Cat 5 Ethernet cable try switching to a Cat 6a cable. Cat 6a is rated for 10 gigabit speed and is shielded. I had the same issue of Thetis locking up intermittently and the Cat 6a cable fixed it. I have not had a lock-up since switching to Cat 6a five months ago.

Latest update---
Both Ethernet cables are Cat 5-- So we have ordered some Cat 7 cables and should arrive in a few days.
I am still having the same disconnects as before (every 1-2 hours)
Sample rate is still set to 48K
Last night, I was a NCS calling about 250 guys on the roster, radio seemed to work very well (didn't notice any glitches)
It takes about 1 hour to call all members so it is happens pretty fast. Running about 80 watts and no rf detected in the shack.
However listening back to the recording there was one (1) audio cut at about half way through.
Now to wait patiently for the new cat cables before trying anything major!
Cleaning up the old Flex 6500 for market as I type this!

Another update-----------
Been playing with PS and not been successful (just radio NO amplifier) Immediately got errors. See attached

Re: 2.7.0
This is most likely indicative of firmware not making timing on your specific serial number hardware. Try a different version of firmware. See this topic: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=3192LarryW wrote:Been playing with PS and not been successful (just radio NO amplifier) Immediately got errors. See attached
This is not a 2.7.0 problem. If it persists, start a new topic.
Re: 2.7.0
Larry, Cat 5 cable is not designed for gigabit speeds. It will sometimes work, but work poorly. I suspect this is indeed your problem. The Cat 7 cable should solve the problem.
Anyone running Thetis should definitely check their network cable and make sure it is at least Cat 5e preferably Cat 6 or Cat 7.
Joe W4WT
Update: I should have also said this applies to your entire network. Any gigabit to gigabit connections MUST be with Cat 5e or higher cable or you likely will not be able to achieve full gigabit speeds. I was caught with this problem recently when I noticed a connection that didn't seem to be performing optimally. Turned out I had a Cat 5 cable for that connection. I had upgraded this to gigabit from 100 baseT with a new network interface card but forgot to upgrade the connecting cable. Replacing it with a Cat 6 fixed the problem.

Good advice Joe, new cable ordered.
Re: 2.7.0
His some here try to use Diversity on this release?
I try to get Diversity working this morning and can't figure out what is wrong but diversity have almost non effect. I dont' use it since i was on firmware protocol 1 so i cant tell if it's from long time... but i cant get it to work.. phase gain control do nothing... try almost every possible config..
Any idea?

Re: 2.7.0
Using an Orion MKII (8000) here. Diversity is working fine.
An easy way to test this is to go to Setup > General > ADC and set DDC1 to use ADC0. This will put the output of ADC0 into both RX1 and RX2 for diversity.
Then open the Diversity control panel. Changing Receiver Source to Receiver 1 and Receiver 2 in turn should both show the same spectra.
Finally, change Receiver Source to Rx1+Rx2, set gain to 1.0 and phase to -180. If Diversity is working you will see nearly complete suppression of the spectra. It's actually quite fun and educational to see how closely the phase must be to -180 degrees to get cancellation.
Don't forget to change your DDC1 setting back again.

Scott
