Current Status

Postby Simon » Mon Apr 17, 2017 6:51 am

Hi All,

Here's a brief post from a weary programmer:

1) I'm only supporting the new protocol aka protocol 2
2) I do have TX support
3) It's working with the Herems-based 10E - tester is Jeff KR3EP who uses SSB and AM
4) I have just received firmware for my 8000DLE and it is working - must have a few days of QSOs before I can declare this as being a 'good' firmware kit.

So there we are - I'll announce ANAN-related updates in this forum and my own Yahoo! group. I'm also building a 'Test For Updates' into the software so you can see what's what without surfing the web.

Toodles,

I am also testing for Simon, on my 100D. It's definitely coming along! Below is SDR Console running edge to edge on my triple displays and showing all of 40M.

Will there be a 100 Hermes version or do I need to sell and upgrade?

Yes, in fact the 100 is essentially the 10E with more power I think. Anyway, all ANAN which run the new protocol (protocol 2) are/will be supported.

Just to clarify:

The 100 is the 100W version of the 10. Both use the Hermes 16-bit card.

The 100B is the 100W version of the 10E. Both use the Hermes 14-bit card.

I can't speak for Simon, but...

One of the important requirements to run SDR Console is the Protocol 2 firmware. Unfortunately, there has been little progress on Protocol 2 for nearly a year now. Currently, Protocol 2 is in a state where it may or may not make timing on your particular radio. Some people are lucky and can run Protocol 2 in a stable fashion, others, like your's truly, not so much. I can't get it to run on the 100D or 8000 I have here for more than a few minutes before the radio (firmware) crashes, necessitating a power cycle on the radio to reboot the firmware.

Obviously there may not be a lot of motivation to work on SDR Console Apache Lab support until Protocol 2 is in a little bit better shape.
