Tune PTT delay

Postby w9mdb » Fri Oct 12, 2018 4:20 pm

Is there a way to tune without the external PTT being asserted?
I have an ANAN 100, HLA 305 amp, and MFJ-998 tuner.
The tuner has amp enable in/out that gets the PTT RCA jack and has the out hooked to the amp.
I've only got about 2W going into the amp as that's all it needs to give full power which isn't enough to tune.
But if I put 15W out the amp will halt. The tuner turns on the amp but the 15W is too much at that point.
So I have to turn the amp off anytime I change bands and tune....would prefer not to do that of course.

So...simplest thing appears to be not to enable the PTT signal on the back of the rig during tune. Is that possible? Or is that in the firmware?

AFAIK, there is no such function available in either the software or firmware.

If you really want to automate this you could use DDUtil with a compatible external relay unit.

I automate a lot of tuning related functions with DDUtil. However, DDUtil is capable of directly controlling my KPA500 via a serial port connection, so that makes it a lot easier.
