Scot,

My bad, when you announced 'UPDATE FW 2.8.18 14 AUG 2021' and further down it said, Thetis build 2.8.11 21f will show the full firmware version number , etc.
I thought the new FW included 21f. Which means I misunderstood.
I suppose i'll be ok to leave it as is, the rig seems to be running fine.

I have an ANAN 8000dle and it is working O.K.

Everything was fine until I loaded in the new firmware

package 2.1. Am using software 2.8.11

I was getting a peculiar message that flashes every few

seconds. The transmit audio seems to click along with

the message when it flashes on. Also, modulated audio

had a little digital breakup. It was fine before I 'fixed it'!!

The message is: Seq=> 267 (CC DDC0 DDC2 Mic)

I don't know what this message means so I was

not able to correct the problem.

I re-flashed Firmware 2.0 and the problem went

away.

I am posting this message in case others have had

the same issue and the creators of version 2.1 may

want to look into the problem.

Regards,

Dick W7SV

Hi Dick,

I use the latest versions of f/w and s/w with my 7k (also Orion MKII) without any obvious problem. See how it looks at the top info bar.

@rjkarizona

Dick,

Can you confirm you are running Protocol 2 firmware?

If you are running Protocol 2 have you read the first post in this topic and have you tried 2.1.18?

I'm having the same problem that Dick reported with 2.1.18 on my 7000. I get break-ups on my receive audio every so often and a red warning comes up briefly that says "Seq=>265 (CC DDC2 Mic)".

I have been running 2.0b for a long time and went back to it tonight. No such audio break-ups with 2.0b. Using Thetis 2.8.11 21g.

Hi, noob question here. My 7000 DLE MKII arrived, and in Thetis -> Setup -> H/W Select I see "Ver: 2.7". This does mean I am running Protocol 2, correct? See attached image.

That is P1 viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3080

If you run the updated Thetis it is even more helpful and tells you P1 or P2.

OK thank you. When you say "updated" Thetis, which version are you referring to? I'm running 2.8.11.

Which version of v2.8.11? There are 14 versions (improvements) The current is 2.8.11 21H2 viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3817

The latest P2 firmware (2.1.18) is on the first post of this topic.

Got it, thank you. I am running 2.8.11 base, no patches. Tried installing the latest patch just now, but I get the fatal MicMute error. Uninstalled Thetis and deleted my data directory (I didn't really have any customizations/settings worth saving at this point). Reinstalling Thetis now and then will try the patch again.

Not yet. Still on P1. Thought I would update Thetis first. Is this doing it wrong?

In my opinion, if your PC and Anan are up to the task, I would most certainly leverage P2 over P1.

Plus this topic is for P2, so any questions and issues you have with P1 you would need to post on the P1 topics.

Understood. One last update here, I did get the patch installed. The tricky part of this is that I was just holding down CTRL when I clicked the Thetis Icon. It must be held down until the program loads and tells you to restart. If someone else has the MicMute fatal error, maybe they will find this post useful.

I have successfully upgraded my brand new 7000 DLE MKII (delivered September 2021) to Protocol 2. Key takeaways are:

* Download the firmware from the 1st page of this topic.
* Download and install winpcap from https://www.winpcap.org/install/
* Download and install HPSDRBootloader from https://github.com/TAPR/OpenHPSDR-Proto ... s/releases
* Turn off the 7000, and slide bottom bootloader switch to ON. Power the radio back on.
* Fire up HPSDRBootloader, test bootloader, & select the firmware file from step 1. Click Program.
* WAIT until programming is done. Power off radio.
* REMEMBER to slide bootloader switch back to off.
* Power on radio, test Thetis.

Thank you all for the tips & suggestions.

Hi to all, already using prot 2 but waited with udating to the latests FW version.
I first like to know if that latests version affects SDR Console or any other SDR software (than Thetis) in any negative way.

Can someone share his/hers expirience? (pls only in regard to the latests FW version)
Thanks

WinPcap vs. Npcap?

All of the openHPSDR apps were written for winpcap.

Per the npcap website:

https://nmap.org/npcap/vs-winpcap.html

It should be possible to install npcap in winpcap compatibility mode. However I have never tried this.

If you try that and it works please let us know.

I'm using npcap, don't remember the exact install process but it's been working fine for me since March 2020.

Happy to report so far so good (knock on wood). As of Sunday, 10/3, I have been running Metis 2.1.18 in both 7000 radios, the 7000dle and the new dleMk2. Both exhibit exceptional stability with Thetis 64x 2.8.11. Puresignal is running like a champ with the OM amplifier. -60db sampler built into an Array Solutions PMII coupler/wattmeter.

Did NOT install wincap or npcap as I am understanding that is only when using bootloader...

Updated using the windows programmer... from 2.0/3.8 to 2.1/3.9

Curious about the meaning of "Receivers" in the query via CLI in that it provided "4 Receivers" prior to the upgrade and provides "8 Receivers" after the upgrade... In both cases it provided "Board Type: "Unknown" which prevented (I think) the CLI from working... and hence why I ended up using the Web vs CLI method... Is this just corrupt data as I did not have wincap/npcap?

( erased the MAC/IP addresses below with x...)

Code: Select all

2021/12/21 22:59:13        HPSDR Board: (x:x:x:x:x:x)
2021/12/21 22:59:13      Board Address: x.x.x.x:1024
2021/12/21 22:59:13           Protocol: 3.9
2021/12/21 22:59:13           Firmware: 2.1
2021/12/21 22:59:13          Receivers: 8
2021/12/21 22:59:13        Freq. Input: Phase_word
2021/12/21 22:59:13             Status: running

Where are you getting that output you quoted from? Wireshark? If it's Wireshark, then whatever plug-in you are using to get those decodes probably has not been updated to match the latest revisions to the protocol associated with identifying board type and/or firmware version.

With respect the meaning of "receivers", that has always been, an will probably remain forever, a problem. In this context, it refers to the number of digital downconverter (DDC) units available in the FPGA build.

Read this post here:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2644

That post is getting a little dated, but it should capture the gist. Currently, in Protocol 2 with Thetis, DDC assignments are parceled out in a similar fashion except that there are no DDCs assigned as "stitch receivers" because the higher IF bandwidths available make that largely unecessary.

Hello,
Can I ask the author of the New 7000/8000 Orion MKII firmware?
Do you have the latest firmware sources somewhere? Metis_Orion_MkII_Protocol_2_v2.1.18.rbf
I want to try to insert the switching of an additional preselector to improve reception in the presence of interference.

Not the author, but you can do that with Thetis using the OC output lines without having to modify firmware. Also, if you did modify the firmware, what output signals would you propose to use to control the extra preselector?
