Thanks for that idea Scott, I'll look into those. I hadn't even thought of it. Still quite a few months before I get to be a fulltime Rver though so plenty of time to work it all out.

HI All,
Man it took some time to get the Controller v2 due to lock downs and delivery issues etc, was and is it worth it .... MAN oh MAN, yes it is
if there is one addition to the shack for your ANAN , in my case the 7000, fantastic product, "Abhi" this is beautiful, I have already backed up the
SD Card so I can experiment, first is WSJTX and FLDIGI to be installed and configured.
So Guys, if you go ahead and purchase, you will not be disappointed, more than worth the wait in these covid times...

Well I am happy for you Matt VK7MR. Yes it looks like a great product. I am sure I will be happy with it, eventually.
I preordered ordered my V2 Controller on August 2021 and am still waitingggggggggggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worse, is so far have not received any reply, with regards to delivery, from my last two emails on Feb 7 & Feb 16, 2022,
to support@apache-labs.com.
My last reply from support@apache-labs.com on Jan 22, 2022 said my item would be shipped within the next 2-3 working days. Obviously that did not happen.
Even more worse, there is no or very little update production news on this forum.
Very frustratinggggg!!!!!!.
Regards, from Ron vk3io.

Hello Ron,

I fully understand your frustration.

FWIW: I ordered my V2 Controller 19th of May 2020 and I received it 24th of February 2021. My dealer in Germany however sent me an update on regular base. At that time there were no big worldwide problems with manufacturing chips.

So the question from me is if I would order a V2 Controller when can I expect delivery? The web site says 2 weeks lead time ( Highlighted). I'm interested, but impatient :-) .

Contacted support and Tony gave a delivery time of 3-4 weeks. I ordered the V2 Controller on 3-1, we will see how long it takes to arrive.

It 'seems' I read elsewhere in this forum that the Anans are not particularly remote friendly when used with a computer. Is the same true of Controller 2? If not, details will be appreciated.

Dick,

The "Controller" is a Raspberry Pi with a touch screen and some knobs and switches running the piHPSDR thick client software under the Raspbian Linux operating system. Thus it has all the same issues associated with any thick client architecture, the same as Thetis/Windows, or PowerSDR mRX/Windows. Indeed, it might arguably be a more difficult situation because there are a good deal fewer choices associated with obtaining low latency audio and graphical remote access to a Linux environment, and less experience in doing so. For instance, the commonly used VNC software does not support audio, although RealVNC just announced a paid version with audio for $3.39 a month!

piHPSDR has a beta version 2.0 available at the repository here: https://github.com/g0orx/pihpsdr I've not seen any documentation on version 2.0. You can see from the depository how often and when updates are made, and also look at the open issues.

Does anyone know what version of piHPSDR will be installed for Controller V2 deliveries?

Ultimately you will want a keyboard/mouse for the Controller. It will have the same care and feeding requirements of any personal computer, in this case a Linux based one, and will certainly be necessary if you want to start adding remote access capabilities of some sort.

Scott

Has anyone else received notice of shipment of their V2 controller? I received notification of shipment on Monday 4-4 shipping from the Australia location. My order was placed on 3-1-22.

Hello Mike.

I did receive an email from Tony at Apache Labs Support on March 23, 2022, to confirm my V2 Controller was included on the current shipping list.

My order was made August, 2021 and as I live in Melbourne I would think I would get mine quicker than anyone else.

But sadly, I must be dreaming, as I have NOT received it as of today April 4, 2022 or any email saying when, or why, or other.

Good luck and cheers, from Ron.

Hi Scott,

You do not need a keyboard and mouse to operate the Pi Controller for regular SSB/CW operation. All can be controlled from the touch screen, controls and the menu. The interface is actually very well designed.

As for the documentation, I did an edit of the original (version 1) controller documentation, which has been posted on the Apache Labs web site and I believe it is still current. I regularly use the Controller for SSB QSOs and find that it works well, albeit not with the same number of manual controls as many of the high-end radios, such as the Kenwood TS-890 or the IC-7610. Still, it is great for regular SSB QSOs and the noise reduction is still better than the current Flex offering.

Anybody taking recent delivery on a V2 controller?

Anyone hear anything regarding shipments of the V2?

Mine was ordered March 2022 before the website indicated pre-order so I paid the full amount. I received acknowledgement for the payment and that's been the end of it. I've sent a few spaced out emails asking for status but have received nothing.

Thanks,
Mike K4KKL

As a follow up, I received an email from Apache Labs Support today, Dec 29, stating that my V2 controller would be shipped out next week. The email also says that the factory is closed until Jan 2, 2023 and that although the Raspberry Pi was out of stock globally the factory received stock last week. Happy New Year to All.
