Adam, you made a note about the GPSDO degrading the RMDR. What GPSDO were you using?

I was using an HP Z3805A GPS receiver (which incorporates an HP 11801A OCXO). The Z3805A is my lab standard.

So is this indicative off all external ref sources when used with the 7000? I am using a Trimble OCXO based GPSDO.

Hi Gary,

You can check by applying a test signal from a source with known low phase noise (e.g. a high-quality crystal oscillator) to the antenna port at about -10 dBm, and then connecting the GPSDO reference. If the noise pedestal on either side of the signal spike widens (on the spectrum scope), the external reference is degrading the receiver's RMDR.
