That said, I would not expect there to be a whole new manual. Other than the front panel display and amplifier board the hardware looks identical to the existing 8000. It will run the same software, Thetis, and the same firmware. Like all other hardware from Apache, it seems a safe bet it will be delivered with P1 firmware and everyone will quickly update theirs to P2. We can also expect this will be the "MKIII" version of the Orion, so it will use that version of the firmware, both P1 and P2.
Perhaps we will see some sort of addendum that describes the operation of the new front panel controls, although it is likely to be completely self-explanatory. IMHO they should have skipped the front panel on the new 8000, for me it has been nothing but trouble on the original 8000 I have here and I never (can't because it is remote) look at it. Indeed, I reprogrammed the one here to eliminate the VSWR fault detection. I had to otherwise I could not run remotely, it was far too sensitive and there is no way to remotely reset the front panel amp disable function.
