If I may submit my own recommendation, I have the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 in my shack. Per the comparison in the link below between Klipsch and the even higher tier Bose Companion 20, "if you’re the type of consumer that would always prioritize sound quality over anything else" then Klipsch is their go-to choice.

The problem I ran into with the pair of JBL 305's was that I also wanted to listen to music on them. I picked up a passive mixer/splitter and added a subwoofer to the pair of 305s.

The Art Splitmix4 allows me to use the same speakers on my PC and every rig in the shack. It does have 12db of insertion loss and my built in sound card didn't have enough drive to overcome that. A better sound card gave me the volume I needed and the sweet sound I'd been missing.

Love my Yamaha HS5 (woofer/tweeter) pair and the HS8S sub-woofer that a good ham buddy of mine who is also an audio engineer recommended. The sub-woofer does a wonderful job when listening to music too of course.

Best!

I think the audio quality of a pair of JBL 305P MKII 5” Powered Studio Monitors, provide utterly amazing RX audio quality. I’m with you 100%. I highly recommend.

Late to the party but I like the PreSonus Eris 3.5s for radio purposes including BC FM, they are easily good enough to hang off an SDR. They are not expensive.

In a previous life as a recording engineer I never liked JBLs and after a recent visit to my local emporium I still don't. However this is for studio monitoring not amateur radio. In my home studio setup I still use Genelec 1030As which I have owned for a long time. They are excellent for the physical size as well as being 'truthful'. If you want one of the best buy Genelec, they are expensive with good reason.

Some time ago I missed an opportunity to pick up a set of used JBL 305's for a good price.
Today I stopped by my local Guitar Center to look around at their powered studio monitors.
They had the latest JBL 305's on sale for $129.00 each. I was about to buy a pair when the guy running the department asked me if I would be interested in a pair of used Tannoy Reveal 501A
speakers they had for sale. He told me they were made in the UK and equal in quality to the JBL 305's. So, he demonstrated them and the JBL speakers. I couldn't tell the difference. Both sounded great. The Tannoy speakers were $169.00 for the pair. And have a 45 day full refund policy if I decide I don't like them and want to return them.
I just hooked them up to my pc and started Thetis. I had been using a pair of Boise Companion II speakers for a long time. These speakers are way better than the Boise speakers. I do need to order a different 1/4" TSR to dual XLR cable. The one I have was suggested here. But, the separation between the speakers is only about 12". I need something a bit wider.
I really like these speakers so far. They are only set to half volume on the rear controls. And still they are plenty loud. ( and that's with me not wearing my hearing aids! )
