Protocol 1 Programmer

Postby TI4/N0URE » Fri Oct 11, 2019 1:27 pm

The instructions for moving to Protocol 2 clearly list that for the first move from Protocol 1 that you must use the Protocol 1 programmer.

"If Protocol 1 firmware is currently in the radio hardware, to change it to another version of Protocol 1 or Protocol 2 firmware use the Protocol 1 HPSDR Programmer."

Every time I search for the Protocol 1 Programmer in Gethub I only find Protocol Programmer v 2.0.10. Where can I find Programmer version 1 ?

Hi John,

You have the correct programmer. The Protocol 1 Programmer latest release version is v2.0.10. This will allow you to flash the protocol 2 firmware into your ANAN that has protocol 1 firmware currently installed. Sounds kind of confusing but you have found what you need.

If you like, you can simply use the HPSDRBootloader utility all the time. It can work with either protocol. The only real user difference is that you need to move the Bootloader switch on your ANAN from the "Run" position to the "Bootloader" position when you are flashing the firmware. After the flash, move the Bootloader switch back to the "Run" position so that your ANAN will run the software.

Rob

No bootloader switch on a 100D, it's a jumper that has to be placed inside on the Angelia card.

Or you can do what I did: add a bootloader switch.

Rob,
I'm hopeful to avoid the Bootloader as I'm down to only one good eye and getting to that jumper in the 100D is no fun.
Thanks for the info. The names are miss-leading

What is the proper name of the Protocol 2 Programmer?
