HPSDR shuts down after 8000DLE relay click noise.

Postby cLicari » Fri Jun 21, 2019 7:41 pm

I have been running an 8000DLE with P2 v1.9 and Thetis v2.6.6 for several months with no significant issues until today. As of this morning, intermittently, the 8000DLE will emit what sounds like a relay click when selecting a new band. At that point HPSDR turns off, Power button light turns off. Sometimes I can just click the Power button and it will reconnect. Other times the 8000DLE will repeatedly make the same relay clicking noise about three seconds apart, and then stop, at which time I can reconnect to HPSDR. This all happens operating without any input, and then reestablishing a connection without resetting or power cycling the 8000DLE or closing and relaunching HPSDR. Other times when HPSDR locks up and I click the Power button I get a dialog box stating "Error starting HPSDR , is hardware connected and powered?". If I close the dialog box and hit the Power button it will reconnect. It appears the more I test it the closer the shut downs are occuring.
The only thing that has changed in the shack since operating without issue last night is Windows10 did an update today. Any thoughts?
Thx,

You've posted this question in the firmware sub-forum, so I'll give you a firmware based answer: try loading P1/PowerSDR and see if it works, OK. If it doesn't then it's probably a software or hardware problem and we'll have to move this topic to the right forum.

If P1 does work OK, then reload P2 and see if the problem persists.

Scott....

I continued to test the system with P2 and Thetis this morning and had repeated instances of Thetis being disconnected after hearing the clicking in the 8000DLE. This afternoon I reloaded P1 v2.3 and PowerSDR mRX PS v3.6.9 and have had NO disconnections or clicking from inside 8000DLE. I'm still thinking that the Windows10 Update (build 1803) has had some effect on Thetis v2.6.6.
Have you heard of anyone else having any issues, similar or not, during this time frame?

Thx
Carl

Nothing specific, Carl. I'm running an 8k on P2, my Windows 10 Pro is up to date, and I've noticed no unusual changes lately.

I'm puzzled as well.
Any suggestions? Maybe a fresh Thetis database? Maybe load v2.6.7?
It's been working so well for so long I hate to go back to P1.

Thx

You should always run the latest. And starting from scratch is not a bad idea, either.
