Can talk to radio but PowerSDR mRX PS doesn't see it

Postby rbduck » Mon Dec 30, 2019 9:36 pm

I acquired a NIC card with two ports. In Windows 10 they are given labels of Ethernet 3 and Ethernet 4. Ethernet three is the home network that's connected to the internet. Ethernet 4 is the ANAN. I have went through W1AEX's explanation of how he has set his up and feel as if I haven't missed anything but obviously I have.

The problem is that PowerSDR mRX PS isn't seeing the radio. Here is a capture of the Setup screen. In the bottom right the ANAN Address IP 10.0.5.2 is correct, but nothing else has been populated. I have set up both Ethernet 3 and 4 as closely as I could to W1AEX's setup as possible except I'm in the 10.0.X.X realm. I have I have Ethernet 4 set up as 10.0.5.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 . The Internet Metric for Ethernet 4 is "1" and Ethernet 3 is 100. I have the ANAN IP set to 10.0.5.2 When I read it with Bootloader it responds with 10.0.5.2. From a DOS prompt I can ping the ANAN with all good responses. I also pinged with the ANAN powered down just to make sure that is what I'm getting a good response from. When I start the PowerSDR mRX PS program what you see in the screen capture came up with the correct IP Address , but no other information. Pressing the POWER button in the program gets the normal Error staring HPSDR hardware, is it connected and powered screen.

I know I'm not actually showing all the setup screens here, but I assure you they are identical in almost every fashion as W1AEX's. The only differences are the places where he has some static IP's for his network. Yep, I'm on that vertical learning curve and I'm stumped momentarily.
Any ideas?
I've posted these screen shots to hopefully help. Thank you.

EDIT: UPDATE:

I've has Thetis installed for a week or so ,but haven't used it because I couldn't get it to see the radio. I just tried it and it started right up. Now I must figure out why PowerSDR mRX PS will not see it. I'm still looking for ideas.. Thanks again

PowerSDR only works with Protocol 1 firmware. Thetis only works with Protocol 2 firmware. Since you loaded Protocol 2 firmware only Thetis works.

If you are getting good performance with Thetis then I suggest you stick with that. It is becoming substantially more capable than PowerSDR.

I thought it may have been something along those lines. I thought it was the reverse though. I tried to find where it outlined what went with what.
Before I uploaded the Protocol 2 firmware PowerSDR worked and Thetis would not. Today when I discovered that Thetis worked the thought occurred to me that I had the wrong firmware for PowerSDR. I picked that Avatar for a reason. I see myself as the young boy and everyone else as the old man I'm learning from.

Well I'm glad that it was as simple as that. Also I'm glad the networking is functioning properly. I'm still reading all I can for the small amount of time have for it. Yes Thetis was working really well. I'll stay with it for a while and have some fun with it. Happy New Year!
