ANAN-100 Ethernet lead direct to PC

Hi every one, please be gentle as I am very new to this.

First of all this is a second hand ANAN 100 and I have had a Flex3000 and Flex 5000 in the shack and no problem setting up and running.

I have a ANAN-100 and ethernet cable connected direct to PC and running the openHPSDR mRX PS v3.4.8

According to the User manual this can be run without having to be connected to my router (that's how I read it).

After switching the "100" on, selecting openHPSDR and then pressing the "Power" button with the mouse, after 2 secs the HPSDR error message comes up "Error starting HPSDR, is it connected and powered?".

I have since been told that I need to be connected to my router via a ethernet switch, to achieve this would take a lot of work laying a cable from my shack to the router position.

I have WiFi from my PC to the router,

Am I missing something because the manual definitely shows the ANAN100 can be connected directly to the PC.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Terry G4AFS

Terry,

I have moved your thread to the correct sub-forum here, the one that centralizes all information regarding network connections.

Please see the very first "sticky" post in this sub-forum. Your answer is almost certainly contained within.

Very short answer: you can make a direct connection. You do not need to go through a router or switch. But to do so with good reliability you should set the network metric manually on that interface so it has higher priority than the WiFi connection, set a static IP address on that interface that is not on the same subnet as the WiFi, and set a similar but different static IP address into the radio hardware unit using HPSDR Bootloader. If this is all Greek to you then you are going to have to climb the Ethernet TCP/IP learning curve.

See the sticky ("tacked") post first and see if that helps.

Scott
