Setup PS for Single Cal

Postby Tom AA4VV » Fri May 01, 2020 4:28 pm

I am using a 7000 MKII Thetis V 2.7.0 (3/1/20) and I want to use PS on FT8.

I don't understand how to setup PS for Single Cal.
Do I start with Two-Tone setup? When I try Single Cal the PS-A goes off.
Should it be on when I'm transmitting in FT8?

Thanks

Tom,

Using PS for FT8 or any other digi mode is a great idea. I do it all the time.

First, in Setup > Tests make sure that two tone Use Drive Power is enabled.

1. Open the Linearity control panel by clicking on the Linearity menu pic.
2. Start a two tone signal transmission.
3. Click the Single Cal button as many times as you like until you get the answer you want on the spectral display.
4. Disable two-tone and operate your digi mode in a normal fashion.

At this point the PS-A button will be dark because you have taken it out of "PureSignal Automatic" mode.
You will also notice that there are no longer any PureSignal indications at the bottom right corner of the spectral display. That is a UI bug.
More importantly, you will see that the Correcting indicator is green in the Linearity control panel. If it's green you are good to go.

Anytime you change the dial frequency or the RF drive level you need to do this over again.

Scot,
This is what had me confused

"You will also notice that there are no longer any PureSignal indications at the bottom right corner of the spectral display. That is a UI bug"

Thanks Scott for all the good information.
