8000 DLE 6 metre LNA

Postby bigbird1 » Tue Dec 21, 2021 1:35 am

On an 8000DLE what difference should "enable 6 metre LNA" make to signal strength reading. After a summer lightning storm sensitivity seems to have dropped and I am seeing only a 3 dB increase with the LNA enabled and would like some confirmation that it should be more before I start looking further into the problem. Seasons greetings Brian VK3BD

In my 7000DLE MK2 the 6 m LNA gain is about 16 dB.
You can check if it is broken or degraded (mine LNA broke with a loss of 25 dB), enabling second receiver and checking the gain of LNA with first receiver.

Thank you so much for your reply Maurizio. It was a very good suggestion to compare RX1 against RX2. On/Off with RX1 LNA gives a 3 Db difference whereas RX2 gives 25 dB difference. I have ordered a PGA-103+ but it will take couple of weeks to get here. I should be able to post outcome in late January. Thank you again. Brian VK3BD

Thank you again Maurizio. Voltage on the output pin on U1 (PGA-103) was down to 0.6 volt (similar voltage on input). replaced U1 and gain is now about 20 dB so all is well. 73 Brian of Barwite
