Hello All,

Not sure if this has been brought up, probably.

I can be listening on a frequency, lets say on 75 meter. All is well until someone who may come on
to another frequency a good ways down or up from where I am parked and
the Pan-adapter signal will raise tremendously with tremendous amount of noise.

I have tried using the attenuation and adjusting the AGC as well as clicking on the NB, ANF, and the SNB.

I am sure others have seen this and are dealing with this issue. Is there a fix for this?

I don't recall having this issue with the traditional rigs.

I am still using the Anan-100 but of course with Thetis.

This can be very annoying !

Have you activated NR?
If so, try it without activated NR.

Thank you Ernst for the reply back.

NR doesn't really help all that much for me, sometimes it pays to turn it on
but mostly iI soon turn it because it really doesn't help. I rarely use it.

Yes, this image has the characteristics of what I am trying to explain but of course with the Noise attached!

Sometimes it raises the whole noise floor across the band and it sometimes has a "Jitter" affect if you will, not always but sometimes.

Does this mean there is or isn't a fix !!! Would changing how much of the "Band" that I can see in the Pan-adapter help? ( Just thought of this )

Please post a screenshot of what you're seeing.

The only time I see this is when NB is turned on and a strong signal is nearby. In my experience, most all NB's suffer from this affliction.

silly me, I meant NB....

If their signal is in your passband…it’s in your passband. There are plenty of SSB signals that are intended to be 3kHz but so dirty with IMD they are 9 kHz wide or worse. Doesn’t matter what your receiver is, if the signal is in your tuned passband, you are going to receive it.

Ken--agree with Mark above, please post a screen shot so we can all be certain about what is going on. Be sure that the screen shot shows all the entire program window (PowerSDR or Thetis, whatever you are using) so we can see how your receiver is set up, too.

Hello and thank you all for your replies.

I understand clearly what a signal looks like when it is in my pass band, that is
obvious! All Amateurs better understand the difference, but I get it because there are more
Appliance Operators then there are DIY Hams out here today. Surface mounting
doesn't help the DIY's either except for those special and very patience DIY's! ( I struggle with Surface mounting)

Anyway because of the NB being mentioned, I had toggled the "NB" on and off at times and now remembering why I have it on.

I get extremely lots of noise throughout the 75 meter band and with the "NB" on it helps quite a bit.
However when I toggle the "NB" on and off when a large signal comes in down the band and creates this additional noise
and this crazy Zig Zag signal, it appeals to be associated with the existing noise I have in the first place.

Let me word it this way. When the strong signal from down the band comes in, it seems as if it toggles the "NB" on and off automatically or amplifies the existing noise.

When I use my Beverage antenna (only 450 feet) this local noise is attenuated quite a bit and its hard to notice, but again when a strong signal comes in, my Beverage behaves as I am on my transmit antenna and the noise can interfere with whom I am listening to.
I will have to do a screen shot when night falls sometime later, sorry.

A screen shot of the noise would help. The screen shot needs to show all your controls, too, not just the spectral display.
