Please suggest a RF Splitter

Postby vu2mb » Mon May 10, 2021 1:44 am

Hello,

I am looking to buy an rf splitter so that I can use the same antenna with two receivers on HF
Don't need something very fancy and should not be too lossy.
so request you to kindly suggest a reasonable solution.
Thank you

Assuming you're just talking a receive-only antenna

If you want to transmit you'll need a switch instead of a splitter.

For splitters I recommend going with Mini-Circuits. You can get a much better product with fully documented performance specifications for half the price of the DX Engineering splitter. Mini-Circuits has so many to choose from, this is just one example:

However, DX Engineering does make a good limiter, and if you are planning to transmit while having two receivers listening independently you are going to want to put one of these on the input to your splitter in order to protect both receivers from the energy your transmitter is putting out:

Dear Scott & Mike,

Thank you very much for your suggestions and yes my preference too is mini-circuits, I have seen a similar discussion regarding it but could not find it after searching almost every page of this section of the forum ( Everything else). Probably get both splitter from mini-circuits and Rx protector from Dx engineering. Scott my 8000 is working properly now and no sensitivity loss the moment temp rises to 34 anymore. Yesterday I disconnected the fan to mimic the problem early but the temp rises to 40 and it was good. Yesterday I posted it where we discussed it a few months ago So that it might be helpful to someone someday.

Thanks again.

Hi Jesus,
Thank you. I have made a couple of PCB's each for their 6x1 & 6x2 remote antenna switch and designed the PCB for remote antenna controller myself for the 6x1 switch They have decent products and the good thing is they are open source. I have already bought the mini-circuits splitter yesterday itself but this must be good too.
