SteppIR Antenna Control

Postby JPPNews73 » Sat Feb 06, 2021 8:53 pm

I am anxiously awaiting the 7000dle MkII, and thinking about the connections I'd like to make when it arrives. Does anyone have experience interfacing the SteppIR SDA100 controller with the ANAN? It's an easy setup for the Flex, but I haven't been able to find any information on it regarding the Anan 7000. I'd greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who might know something about this.

All it needs is an RS232 CAT connection for frequency, correct? Easy day, then:

1. Provision your PC with a serial port, either a high quality USB to serial port adapter, or if it's a full size machine an actual serial port card.

2. Go into Setup > CAT Control and choose one of the four available CAT ports (they are all equivalent) and assign it to the serial port that goes to the controller. Choose the correct baud rates, etc. of course.

Done!

I have finally figured out how to make AutoTrack work properly in the SDA100 SteppIR controller. I tried the S16 cable from SteppIR at their recommendation and it did not work. So I decided to try the S12 cable that I purchased earlier for the Flex 6400. Bingo. Plug the S12 cable into the Data in/Radio DB9 on the back of the controller and plug the other end into an FTDI Serial to USB adapter, and then plug the other end of that into the computer. Check the device manager to see the number of the USB Serial port that is activated and plug that com# into the Cat Control setup screen in Thetis (in my case CAT2), save and then restart Thetis and Voila! (also make sure to set the SDA100 to Kenwood and the Baud Rate at 9600. You should be good.
