Thetis and 7000DLE Volt and Ampere measuring circuit

Postby DH1KLM » Tue Jan 26, 2021 3:14 pm

Who can tell how the circuit for measuring volts and amps is implemented in the 7000DLE
and via which interface this data is fed into the Orion Board.
Is there a schematic avialable about the measuring circuit in question?
I guess the data transfer is done via J16 pin11/12.
Thinking about adding this feature in my Hermes
and also in the Red Pitaya. (via E2 connector Pin15 = U and Pin16 = I (analog Input))
Any comments about this intention are welcome.

Sigi,

Unfortunately, the factory has still requested that 7000 schematics not be publicly posted. But if you make a requests of the factory, they should send you the schematics for the 7000 directly. Then you can see how it is done in that hardware.

However, even if you duplicate the circuitry, I don't think the data will be displayed unless you select the 7000 (or 8000) as your hardware type. So there will be a software hurdle to jump as well.

And how do we request from the factory?
Every rig has schematics publicly available that I know of.

You email them at support@apache-labs.com

That would be incorrect. The 7000 and 8000 series hardware is not supposed to have anything posted publicly. If someone has done that then they did it by accident or by intentionally going against Apache's wishes. You will not find full schematics of the Orion MKII board or the other boards in those models on this site. Not yet, anyway, although I do occasionally ask Apache if that can be changed. So far the answer has been no answer.

I meant "other" non-Apache rigs -- thought I do have the schematics for the ANAN 100 that I got somewhere.

FWIW all the schematics for the 10 through the 200D are available on this site in the schematics section. But not the 7000 and 8000.

I'm no expert on open source hardware licensing, but I believe that because of the derivative works licensing agreement in place with the original openHPSDR hardware design team Apache has to make all schematic available upon request but not necessarily post them publicly. If anyone knows the entire story I'd be eager to read it.

Thank you Scott,
meanwhile I have been confirmed the relevant data will be fed into the Hermes Board via PIN 11/12.
Now it is still necessary to find out which circuit is used to generate this data (maybe kind of current shunt monitor like INA 139?)
If no further informations arrive in the forum I will contact Apache about this topic.
