Disaster struck

Postby vu2mb » Thu Nov 19, 2020 7:57 pm

Hello friends

Couple of days ago while I was participating in WAE RTTY contest, weather turned little rough and it was raining and occasional thunder and suddenly my monitors flickered and my Anan 8000 switched off. It would not switch on even after disconnecting power cord and connecting it again. I pulled the plug of power supply and plugged back in, radio come to life and self test was passed but radio would not connect to my PC. I used my laptop and it did not make any difference. I checked the PC's network connection and device manager did not find onboard network chip and it shows it under hidden devices though. So seems network chip burned out and similar fate for ANAN. I dont know if spike came through AC line. Using Belkin extension board that comes with spike busters.

Radio does not show up in HPSDR programmer or bootloader.
Any help is highly appreciated.
PC network is working again as I bought a TP link USB3 to gigabit adaptor UE300.

Thanks for reading this msg and any possible pointers in getting it back to life.

Disaster struck II

Postby vu2mb » Thu Nov 19, 2020 8:12 pm

Hello friends,

After ANAN 8000 disaster I wanted to be back on air using 200d/100d and here I am facing issue which
was not there earlier when used last and both radios showing identical errors so I it seems something I am missing
somewhere. Radios showing high swr on transmit while Palster tuner shows 1:1 on 25-30 Watts power. On Rx after 15-20
minutes use Sensitivity goes down and it comes back if I switch off Thetis / Powersdr and switch it back again or power down radio.
ANAN-100D is on Protocol 1 firmware Ver 6 and ANAN 200d on P2 ver 1.8

Am I missing something in settings as softwares were programmed for ANAN 8000. Settings are supposed to change according to the radio setup based on Setup in General>Hardware Config.

Any help is highly appreciated. I would like to be back for CQWW CW contest if its possible.

Thanks for reading and any possible pointers. I am puzzled so cant think of anything.

Forgot to mention that Heartbeat is working in ANAN-8000 as it should.
My Palstar tuner was in the loop apart from MFJ 1:1 balun at the antenna side and a coaxial cable on the 2.4" ferrite core at the radio side.
I tried using a managed Edgeswitch-8 but did not make any difference. It was not inline at the time of disaster.

Oh God,
Found out some good news after a disaster.
My Anan 100D/200D are okay and the strange behavior was because of Palstar Antenna tuner.
Its Schottky diode gone bad and reflected power needle was not moving at all giving an impression
that antenna is matched and a patch cord was showing a lose connection (It was one of many Teflon coaxial Patch
cord I recently got made locally. Crimped but badly done it seems) and that's why PowerSDR and Thetis were showing
high swr.

I have replaced the Schottky diode and reflected needle is moving a bit and still not sensitive to reflected power
so seems there is something more to look for as it is still not showing the correct swr.

So Its ANAN-8000 that still needs attention. Any suggestions please?
