8000DLE Overheating

I have just started to play with WSPR mode and managed to set up the 8000DLE to transmit a modest 5w on WSPR Mode (2 minute transmit cycle) every 10 minutes on 160m.

After approx. 4 hours I was alerted by the Anan that it had overheated and had switched into standby mode. The display showed that it had got up to around 45 degrees.

Is this a know issue on continuous carrier / digi modes..

It should not do this, not at 5W and under relatively benign, "room temperature" conditions.

I had my 8000 overheat once. I had forgot to reattach the internal fan connector after upgrading the LCD Arduino firmware.

Room temperature at your location doesn't exceed 25C, does it? Air is free to flow around the radio, the filter is not plugged up with dust?

Moving this to the "other" sub-forum since it has nothing to do with firmware and doesn't belong in a firmware sub-forum.

Thanks for moving the post to a more appropriate section of the forum..

The fan is working and I had only recently performed a 'Spring Clean' to the filter - Dust Free !!

As a trial I have raised the front feet of the 8000DLE by a couple of CM's to see if that make a differnce

I'll try the same WSPR experiment later to see if that make any difference .

OK... further trials ended up with the overheating problem..

However, raising the front two feet up by 1 cm has made all the difference and I have not experienced a repeat of the problem.

I guess it's an airflow problem !!
