A/D Temperature And RMDR Performance

Postby Joe » Thu May 17, 2018 5:58 pm

I see posted on another site about the need for heatsink cooling on the A/D chips for enhanced performance. Is this something that has an effect on our Anan units? I’m not sure maybe this is already installed. If possible maybe someone could explain. GSTK - Good Stuff To Know!!

Not so far as I know, Joe. The datasheet for the 16-bit ADC used in most of the radios is here:

http://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/2208fc.pdf

On page 3 it shows that SFDR at 30MHz is guaranteed over the full temperature range, although there is a fairly big difference between the minimum and typical values. On the other hand, on page 13 is shows that SFDR variation over temperature is trivial, less than 1dB.

My guess is that it is not a significant factor in these radios with these ADCs.
